Abington vs. Bensalem

Abington Comments
Both Abington and Bensalem fielded depleted squads due to the rigors of the long season. Bensalem opened the scoring when Paige Wendling hit a dart from deep in the right corner of the field. The shot rocketed into the upper far corner. Abington answered when Emily Willard drew a foul in the box and converted the penalty kick. Chelsea Jones got loose on a defensive miscommunication by the Ghosts. and shot past Ali Dobson to give the Owls the lead. The score remained 2-1 throughout the rest of the half. Abington applied good pressure in the second half but could not get the equalizer despite Cindy Wade's effort on a short corner kick which hit the cross bar. Caroline Leahy also hit the crossbar for Abington but the Bensalem defense was able to withstand the pressure and garner a hard fought victory. Jess Domansky was promoted from the junior varsity to fill in for the injured Ghosts and played an outstanding match.
