Volleyball playoffs round 2: Hatboro Horsham vs Garnet Valley

In volleyball, the 12th seed Hatters upset the 5th seed Garnet Valley Cougars on Thursday night at the second round district playoff match. Despite losing the first game 18-25, the Hatters were quick to bounce back in games two and three, 26-24 and 25-18. Although the Hatters lost the fourth game, 23-25, the Hatters came back on fire and dominated the fifth game with a score of 15-7. The offense was led by seniors Kathryn Lucca and Carly Black with 23 and 21 kills respectively. The defense was led by junior Caitlin Klotzbach with 34 digs, Black with 23 and Lucca with 19. Junior Lauren Laucella had a big game at the net with 6 blocks. Freshman Sam Jones dished out 51 assists and Freshman Candyce Riley served 24 points. This great upset was a total team effort. The Hatters look forward to their next round of playoffs on Tuesday against 4th seed Strath Haven.
