Sterling Limo Players of the Game (Wk 9)

Sterling Limousine and Transportation Services of Wrightstown is proud to recognize the Players of the Game for SOL teams that are part of each week’s SuburbanOneSports.com’s Featured Games.

WISSAHICKON at UPPER DUBLIN (Upper Dublin 17, Wissahickon 10)
Sterling Limousine Offensive Player of the Game –Andrew Derr, Upper Dublin
The Flying Cardinals’ senior quarterback completed 17-of-24 passes for 241 yards. Derr also gained 32 yards on the ground, which included a 9-yard TD run for the game-winning score.
Coach Bret Stover says:  “He’s the heart and soul of our team, and everybody gets on board with him. We kind of go as he goes. Friday night we went really well because of him. He’s been a rock at that position for the last three years. Especially this year – you come in and say, ‘Here are the weekly adjustments.’ Not only does he get it, but then he relays it to the receivers. As we’re going through prep work during the week, it doesn’t have to be me or the receivers coach – he takes care of a lot of stuff himself. It’s like having another coach on the field, and obviously, he’s well respected by his teammates.”
Sterling Limousine Defensive Player of the Game – Luke Felix, Upper Dublin
The Flying Cardinals’ senior cornerback helped contain a dangerous Trojan offense, which managed just over 200 yards of total offense. Felix came up with a key interception late in the game.
Coach Bret Stover says:  “It’s nice to have Luke back. He took a year off, and he’s been the quiet MVP of our team this year. Defensively, he has been the shutdown cornerback that we needed. He draws the other team’s best receiver each week and never complains about it, actually welcomes the challenge.”
Sterling Limousine Special Teams Player of the Game – Eric Boyer, Upper Dublin
The senior placekicker had a pair of extra points as well as a 22-yard field goal in Friday’s win.
Coach Bret Stover says:  “Just the way he kicks the ball in the end zone – he puts teams at the 20 and makes them go 80 yards for a touchdown, and that’s been huge for us all year. Obviously, kicking a field goal and two extra points for us was big. It’s nice to have a senior who’s been in that position for two years handling those duties.”

COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH at ABINGTON (Council Rock South 30, Abington 22)
Sterling Limousine Offensive Player of the Game – Anthony Alimenti, Council Rock South
The Golden Hawks’ senior running back had 11 carries for 153 yards, which included a touchdown run of 90 yards to put Rock South on top 14-0. He also had a 53-yard touchdown run.
Coach Vince Bedesem says:  “Anthony just did a tremendous job. He had the two big touchdown runs. Big time credit to the offensive line - they were full go the whole game with no substitutions. They did a tremendous job opening those holes, and Anthony is just very explosive. I don’t think people realize just how hard he hits the hole. He’s a strong kid and does a lot of preparation in the weight room. On top of that, just the speed he has – he’ll pull away from people. He’s just tremendous.”

Sterling Limousine Defensive Player of the Game – Andrew Cohen, Council Rock South
Cohen was a force on both the offensive and defensive lines for the Golden Hawks, who dominated the line of scrimmage on both side of the football.
Coach Vince Bedesem says:  “I have said it all along that I think Andrew is by far the best offensive and defensive lineman in this area, if not in the state. He’s just been a tremendous player throughout his career. I think some of these colleges, especially the local Division One schools, need to smarten up and get on him because the kid is just one (heck) of a player.  He had a super, super game on Friday.”
