MEN’S BASKETBALL
Lorenzo Christmas (Norristown) scored 11 points in Bloomsburg’s 71-65 win over California (Pa.) on Sunday. On Saturday, Christmas buried a three-pointer that propelled Bloomsburg to a 66-64 upset of eighth-ranked IUP. In Monday’s 87-41 win over Penn State-Hazleton, Christmas scored 10 points and had seven steals in the first half, a career high for the sophomore guard.
Sophomore AJ Picard (Souderton) connected on an NBA-range three pointer as the shot clock expired to give Goldey-Beacom a 71-68 lead with nine seconds left in regulation, and the Lightning hung on to beat Holy Family 72-71 in the Central Athletic Collegiate Conference season opener for both teams on Saturday. Picard finished the game with 19 points, seven assists and three steals. In Tuesday’s 93-80 loss to Shippensburg, Picard scored a game-high 23 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the field.
Freshman guard Whis Grant (Plymouth Whitemarsh) scored 19 points and had seven rebounds and four assists in East Stroudsburg’s 70-65 loss to Mercyhurst on Sunday. In ESU’s 64-55 win over Slippery Rock on Saturday, Grant scored a team-high 13 points.
Junior Will Barrett (Central Bucks South) tied a career high with eight rebounds to go along with four assists, three blocks and three steals in his 28 minutes on the court in Princeton’s 69-54 win over Lafayette on Wednesday.
Sophomore guard Kenny Gula (Quakertown) had nine points and three boards in Moravian’s 78-74 overtime loss to the University of Scranton on Saturday. On Monday, Gula had 11 points and four assists in Moravian’s 75-61 loss to Ursinus College.
Cameron Prince (Hatboro-Horsham) scored 14 points in Lebanon Valley’s 69-67 loss to Arcadia on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 84-82 overtime win over Messiah, Prince scored a career high 23 points, including the game-tying three-pointer with nine seconds remaining.
Senior Dan DelConte (Wissahickon) scored a career high 33 points to lead Gwynedd-Mercy to a 93-73 Colonial States Athletic Conference victory of Philadelphia Biblical on Saturday. DelConte recorded his second 30-plus point performance and another personal best, hitting on 11-of-17 shooting, knocking down three from behind the arc and adding six assists to his teammates and four steals on the defensive end. In Wednesday’s 87-78 loss to Neumann, DelConte scored a game-high 29 points on 6-of-14 shooting from the field and 16-of-18 from the foul line. The guard added six rebounds, five steals and three assists. In Monday’s 73-59 win over Baptist Bible, DelConte scored a game high 24 points.
Junior guard Khalif Wyatt (Norristown) went five-of-six from the field and dealt out a career-high seven assists in Temple’s 86-74 win over Central Michigan on Saturday. He led all scorers with 23 points.
Freshman Sam Pygatt (Plymouth Whitemarsh) shot 5-of-6 from the floor and finished with 12 points and three assists in Shippensburg’s 77-63 win over Edinboro on Saturday.
CJ Aiken (Plymouth Whitemarsh) had 13 points and blocked a career-high nine shots in St. Joseph’s 62-49 win over Drexel on Wednesday. The Hawks tied a school record with 16 blocks in the game.
Aiken was named the Big 5 Player of the Week for the week ending Nov. 28. He averaged 16.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 4.0 blocked shots as the Hawks went 1-1. He shot 70 percent (14-for-20) from the field and 50 percent (3-for-6) from three-point range. He began the week by scoring a career-high 19 points and tying his personal best with nine rebounds in the Hawks’ 104-99 loss to Iona. He connected on 8-for-12 from the field while registering four blocks. He followed that with 14 points, eight rebounds and four blocks in St. Joe’s 65-47 win over Penn State. Aiken converted 6-of-8 shots, including 2-of-3 three-pointers, and added four blocks. He had seven points and two blocks as St. Joe’s jumped out to a 22-0 lead in the first seven minutes.
Sophomore guard Jesse Krasna (Pennsbury) scored 12 points in Ursinus College’s 69-65 loss to Swarthmore on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 70-52 loss to 14th-ranked Franklin & Marshall, Krasna scored eight points.
Freshman Mike Marvin (Hatboro-Horsham) scored 10 points in Penn State Abington’s 80-77 loss to #20 Salisbury in the consolation game of the Optimist Classic on Saturday. In Friday’s 82-67 opening round loss to Medgar Evers, Marvin scored 14 points. In Wednesday’s 90-74 win over Penn State Brandywine, Marvin had 10 points and a team-leading eight rebounds, six of which came on the offensive end of the floor.
Junior Goran Dulac (Pennsbury) contributed eight points and pulled down a team-high nine rebounds in #11 Cabrini’s 95-92 win over Keystone College on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 82-66 win over Philadelphia Biblical on Wednesday, sophomore Fran Rafferty (Upper Merion) scored 12 points. For Philadelphia Biblical, Jeff Bishop (Souderton) scored 10 points.
Guard Jim Connolly (Souderton) scored 13 of his 18 points in the opening half of Philadelphia University’s 76-66 win against Wilmington (Del.) on Saturday.
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Sophomore forward Liz Martin (Central Bucks East) scored 12 points in Ursinus College’s 78-69 win over Swarthmore on Saturday. In Thursday’s 77-43 win over Bryn Mawr, Martin and senior guard Alli Rosati (Central Bucks East) both had nine points. In Ursinus College’s 64-52 loss to Franklin & Marshall on Tuesday, Rosati had a team high 14 points, sinking five of her nine shots from the field and three of her four free throws. Sophomore forward Sarah Martin (Central Bucks East) had eight points and four rebounds.
Sophomore Brittany Sandone (Souderton) scored a team-high 11 points in Cabrini’s 89-51 win over Notre Dame (Md.) on Wednesday.
Mashira Newman (Upper Dublin) scored 17 points while teammate Sophie Waters (Norristown) added 15 in Millersville’s 62-53 win over Clarion on Sunday. Newman had 13 of her points in the first quarter while Waters scored 12 in the opening half. Newman was 3-for-6 from behind the arc and was a perfect 4-for-4 at the free throw line.
Sarah Kiely (Council Rock North) scored nine points and pulled down a career-best nine rebounds in American University’s come-from-behind 55-54 win over Austin Peay last Friday. In last Saturday’s 49-46 win over San Jose, Kiely had two points. On Wednesday, Kiely had four points in American’s 39-37 loss to UMES.
Senior guard Bryn Cotteta (Norristown) scored a game-high 15 points in Gwynedd-Mercey’s 95-44 win over Philadelphia Biblical on Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Jordan Dominic (Pennridge) added 10 points. In Gwynedd’s 85-77 loss to Neumann on Wednseday, Cotteta scored a team-high 15 points. In Monday’s 69-59 win over Rosemont, Dominic scored a team-high 11 points off the bench while sophomore Taylour Alston (North Penn) had 10 points, six rebounds and three blocked shots.

Heather McHugh (Norristown) scored 10 points, which included a perfect 4-for-4 at the foul line, in Lock Haven’s 66-54 win over Shippensburg on Sunday. Teammate Kelsey Ryan (Neshaminy) had five rebounds. In Saturday’s 74-65 win over Cheyney, McHugh played 40 minutes and tied her career high with 20 points as she went a career best 6-for-10 on three points, five of which came in the first half. In Monday’s 71-62 win over Chestnut Hill, McHugh scored a team-high 17 points. She was 3-for-4 shooting from beyond the arc and was 4-for-4 from the foul line. Ryan netted a career-high 16 points off the bench, including 10 in the first half. She also recorded five rebounds.
Sophomore guard Gabrielle Vass (Central Bucks South) scored a career high eight points in #8 Lebanon Valley’s 75-44 win over Arcadia on Saturday.
FOOTBALL
East Stroudsburg senior linebacker Mike Bergey (Souderton) was named to the Daktronics Division II All-Region first team in Super Region One. He will advance to the national ballot for All-America consideration from the nation’s sports information directors. Bergey was the PSAC’s leading tackler with 10.0 per game, making 110 stops in 11 starts in his only season as a fulltime starter. He was part of a three-player rotation for two inside linebacker spots and had 121 tackles and 11 starts over the last two years and was the only member of his class to play as a true freshman in 2008. Bergey made at least nine tackles in eight of the Warriors’ final nine games this season and set career highs in the final two games. He had 15 tackles at Shippensburg, followed by 19 – the most in the PSAC this season – with 2.5 tackles for a loss, a sack and two forced fumbles in a 27-26 win over Edinboro in the season finale which gave the Warriors’ 10 seniors a 23-22 record. He was named the PSAC East and D2Football.com Defensive Player of the Week, forcing a fumble at the goal line with two minutes left as Edinboro was looking for the game-clinching score. Bergey ranks in the top 25 in Division II in both tackles and solo tackles per game, and his 65 solo tackles were also the most in the PSAC during the regular season. He is tied for 22nd in total tackles (10.0) and is 15th in solo tackles (5.91) entering this weekend’s national quarterfinal games.
Kutztown quarterback Kevin Morton (Abington) was named to the second team of the 2011 Daktronics, Inc. All-Super Region 1 team. The PSAC East Offensive Player of the Year threw for 2,680 yards with a 62.7 completion percentage. He threw a team-high 32 TD passes in his 12 games played. He established a school record this season by throwing at least one touchdown pass in 21 straight games. He threw for a school record 458 yards on 28-for-46 accuracy against CW Post. Morton threw a career best six touchdown passes against Saint Anselm in the 2011 season opener. Morton is second in KU history with 85 touchdown passes and 8,220 passing yards. He has 8,898 yards of total offense in his career, good for 11th in PSAC history. He is tied for 13th with 8,220 passing yards, eighth with 85 passing TDs and 10th with 625 completions.
Kutztown senior defensive end Brett Moss (Bensalem) was named to the second team of the 2011 Daktronics, Inc. All-Super Region 1 team. Moss, who made an immediately impact in his first season at KU, set a school record for sacks in a season (18.5) and was part of a KU defense that allowed less than 14 points in five of its last seven games. An All-PSAC second team selection, Moss was fourth on the team with 66 total tackles and led KU with 24.5 tackles for a loss. Moss had a season high four sacks in KU’s playoff win over Concord and had three in KU’s win over West Chester.
Kutztown junior defensive back Alex DiNolfi (Norristown) was named to the second team of the 2011 Daktronics, Inc. All-Super Region 1 team. He set a school record with 11 interceptions on the year. A first team All-PSAC selection, DiNolfi now has 15 interceptions in his career. He is atop the NCAA in total interceptions and is second in interceptions per game (0.85). He was third on the team with 68 tackles and had five pass breakups and 
two fumble recoveries. He had multiple interceptions in three games this season.
Temple junior Brandon McManus (North Penn) earned second team All-Mid-American Conference honors. Temple’s placekicker for three seasons, McManus took over punting duties this fall. In 12 games, McManus is second in team scoring with 85 points. He leads the MAC with a perfect 46-of-46 in PATs. McManus has punted 45 times for 2,065 yards. Fifteen of those 45 landed inside the 20, while 16 were longer than 50 yards. McManus earned national specialist honors seven times this season.
MEN’S SWIMMING
Bloomsburg’s Mark DiLemmo (Central Bucks East) set a school record in the 200 fly preliminaries of the Zippy Invitational at the University of Akron when he posted a time of 1:54.33, breaking the previous record of 1:54.57 he set last year. His time also was an NCAA ‘B’ cut time and qualified him for the ‘A’ final. In the evening’s championship final, DiLemmo finished sixth and was the top D-II finisher in the event with a mark of 1:55.23. DeLemmo finished 18th overall (and was the fourth D-II finisher) in the 500-free with a time of 4:46.35, the eighth fastest time in school history. He was part of the 400-medley relay that finished 15th with a time of 3:37.61. Teammate Brendan Malone (Hatboro-Horsham) was 21st in the 1650-free with a time of 17:26.70. Jeremy Frey (Central Bucks East) finished 18th in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:58.14. In the 200-IM, Frey swam in the ‘C’ final and finished 20th overall (and was the first D-II finisher) with a mark of 1:57.65, the second fastest time (behind his own school record mark of 1:54.19) in school history. Frey was part of the 16th place 400-medley relay. In the 200-breast, Tim Dorsch (Souderton) finished in 18th place with a time of 2:13.04. It was the eighth fastest time in school history. He also was part of the 15th place 400-medley relay. Jack Eichenlaub (Upper Dublin) was part of the 200-free relay team that finished 11th with a time of 1:29.06.
Lycoming freshman TJ Guminski (Hatboro-Horsham) posted a personal best in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:34.33 as he knocked 15 seconds off his best time to finish in sixth place at the Swarthmore Invitational on Saturday. He finished ninth place finish with a time of 2:21.69.
Shippensburg senior Joe Keefe (Neshaminy) posted the ninth fastest preliminary time in the 100-yard backstroke and posted a PSAC cut time at the 2011 Zippy Invitational on Saturday. Keefe posted a time of 52.81 seconds in the preliminaries, the second fastest time by an SU athlete this season. His time in the finals was 53.61. He swam the 100 fly in 55.04, finishing 40th. Teammate RJ Phiambolis (Pennridge) finished 39th in the 100 fly with a time of 54.95.
WOMEN’S SWIMMING
Bloomsburg’s Julia DeVincent (Upper Dublin) posted a time of 52.81 in the 100-free in the preliminaries of the Zippy Invitational on Sunday, which was the third best all-time at Bloomsburg and an NCAA ‘B’ cut time. In the evening finals, DeVincent finished 13th overall with a time of 52.23 seconds, the second fastest mark ever at Bloomsburg. DeVincent was part of the 200-free relay that broke the school record with a mark of 1:34.34, finishing eighth in the race and second among D-II finishers. The old mark was 1:37.79 set just last year. DeVincent saw a 24.66 in the 50 free, which is the sixth fastest time in school history. She finished sixth overall in the 200-free and was the first D-II finisher in 1:53.72. Her time was also the sixth fastest mark in school history. Teammate Madeline Barlow (Pennsbury) finished 15th in the 200-fly in the ‘B’ finals with a time of 2:11.13 after posting a time of 2:10.14 in the prelims. Barlow was part of the 400-medley relay that finished 10th in a time of 3:55.23, breaking the school mark of 3:56.47 set last year.
East Stroudsburg freshman Melissa Smith (Pennsbury) finished third in the 200 free with a time of 2:03.96 at the Grove City Winter Invitational this weekend. She also finished ninth in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:39.89 and 100 free (57.22) and was part of the seventh place 400 medley relay (4:25.23) and the 800 free relay (8:13.45).
Freshman Jan Ikeda (North Penn) broke the school record in the 100-meter freestyle by more than a second with a time of 1:02.60 in Saturday’s Alumni Meet. It is the fifth individual record she set this year. Ikeda was part of Lebanon Valley’s 200-medley relay that took nearly a second off the program record with a time of 1:59.16 in Tuesday night’s 117-88 loss to Elizabethtown.
Shippensburg’s Alayna Ryan (Abington) had a PSAC qualifying time in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:18.45 at the 2011 Zippy Invitational on Saturday.
Penn State junior Paige Whitmire (Souderton) finished fifth in the 100 butterfly at the Ohio State Invitational on Saturday. On Friday, Whitmire finished third in the 50 free final with a time of 22.86.
Senior Laurie McLaughlin (North Penn) finished first in the 1-meter diving competition with 244.88 points La 
Salle’s 164-136 win over Bucknell on Sunday.
Senior CJ Corcoran (Souderton) was part of the winning 400 freestyle relay team that captured the title at the Grove City Invitational. She also captured second place finishes in the 100 breaststroke (1:09.80), 50 freestyle (24.93) and 100 freestyle (54.76).
WRESTLING
Matthew Rappo (Council Rock South) won by a major decision (13-5) at 141 in Bloomsburg’s 47-0 win over Sacred Heart in the BU Duals on Saturday.
