Sterling Limousine and Transportation Services of Wrightstown is proud to recognize the Players of the Game for SOL teams that are part of each week’s SuburbanOneSports.com’s Featured Games. During the postseason, Sterling Limo will recognize Players of the Game for the winning teams.
NORTH PENN 21, LA SALLE 14
Sterling Limousine Offensive Player of the Game – James Fielder, North Penn
The Knights’ senior running back was a workhorse in the backfield, carrying the ball 21 times for 109 yards.
North Penn coach Dick Beck says: “He was just awesome – he got the tough yardage. He just kept falling forward and falling forward. On our long drives, he was getting off tackle on our power play, he was lead blocking on other plays. He did everything – blocked tough, ran hard. Whenever we need a yard, that’s the guy we’re going to go to.”
Sterling Limousine Defensive Player of the Game – Derek Brandt, North Penn
The junior defensive tackle had seven solo tackles – three behind the line of scrimmage, one sack and one fumble recovery to anchor a standout defensive effort by the Knights.
North Penn coach Dick Beck says: “That’s a lot of production from a D-tackle. He was not staying blocked. It was pretty incredible. It’s strength, leverage, the ability to get a good feel on where the guy’s blocking him, where he wants him to go and where he doesn’t want him to go. He’s a quick study – if you block the right shoulder, he knows the ball is going to the right. Sometimes you have guys who are quick off the ball and can beat you with some athleticism, but they can’t read blocks, and that’s what this kids does.”
Sterling Limousine Special Teams Player of the Game – Brandon Mandes
The junior placekicker/punter once again got the job done for the Knights, connecting on all three extra points and consistently kicking the ball deep on kickoffs.
North Penn coach Dick Beck says: “Brandon Mandes was outstanding. He kicked two balls out of the end zone, made all three extra points and fielded a bad snap and got the punt off. He did a good job.”
