Norristown hired new varsity baseball and softball coaches for the upcoming spring season.
Vince Elsier has been named the new head varsity baseball coach. A 1981 graduate of Norristown who played baseball four years in high school, Elsier was the head varsity baseball coach at Souderton Area High School from 1998-2005. He also has worked as a scout for the Baltimore Orioles. Elsier succeeds Jim Teeter who resigned last summer after four years as head coach.
Jim McCarthy has been named the new head varsity softball coach. A familiar face to fans of Norristown softball, McCarthy is returning to a position he previously held for 17 seasons before resigning after the 2008 season. He is a teacher at Whitehall Elementary School in the Norristown Area School District. He succeeds Jon Kandrick who resigned this fall.
