Boys’ Lacrosse
UPPER DUBLIN 10, UNIONVILLE 9
The Flying Cardinals led 3-2 at the end of one quarter but found themselves on the short end of a 7-5 score at halftime. They outscored the Indians 3-2 in the third quarter and 5-2 in the second half.
Mike Rama and Drew Potts led a balanced attack with one goal and three assists each while Liam Duke and Brian Lunney both added two goals. Pete Vernacchio, Leighton Young and Ryan Siwinski each added one goal. Upper Dublin’s Jack Deragon was credited with 15 saves.
PENNSBURY 14, HEMPFIELD 6
Hempfield led 4-3 in the second quarter, but the Falcons – who were without face-off specialist Evan Caterson - knotted the score just before halftime. The Falcons seized control of the game in the third quarter, outscoring Hempfield 5-0 and followed that up with a 5-2 fourth quarter, connecting on transition goals offset with dodges from X that resulted either in a shot or cross-crease pass to the open player on the opposite side. The Falcons opened up a 14-4 lead before Hempfield scored a pair of late goals with Pennsbury’s starters watching from the bench.
Andrew Probst (five goals, one assist), Calvin Hopkins (four goals, three assists) and Colin Sullivan (four goals) had big offensive performances for the Falcons. Mike Costantini added one goal. Sean McDonald had three assists, and Ryan McDonald had a pair of assists.
Drew Sweetland was credited with 23 saves while Phil Jutkiewicz had one for the Falcons, who improved to 12-1.
PENNCREST 14, SOUDERTON 9
Ridge Schultz scored two goals and contributed a pair of assists while teammate Tyler Macdougall had two goals and one assist. Drew Nice added one goal and one assist, and Cordell Armstrong and Nick Anderson both had one goal. Drew Nice had an assist.
Girls’ Lacrosse
UPPER DUBLIN 10, FRIENDS CENTRAL 9
The Flying Cardinals sprinted to a 9-3 halftime lead and then held on for the win in a contest that was part of Saturday’s Kaite Samson Festival at Radnor High School.
Taylor D’Ginto connected for the hat trick while Kelly Cross, Brook Callahan and Anna Trentini each had two goals. Cross also had three assists and eight draw controls. Callahan had an assist. Rachel DiFrangia and Julie Cross both had one goal to close out the scoring. Sarah Gallagher was credited with 10 saves in goal.
SOUDERTON 21, UPPER PERKIOMEN 3
Alexa Schneider (five goals) and Sydney Niles (four goals) led a potent Souderton attack. Amber Lambeth and Natalie Bulgier both had three goals while Chessie Rahmer (one assist) and Alyssa Ziegler each had two goals. Michelle Goodwin and Nikki Palmer each had one goal.
GERMANTOWN ACADEMY 12, ABINGTON 7
Hanna Sjolhom connected for the hat trick to lead the Ghosts while Allison Rooney and Meredith Cox both had two goals. Kelsey Fitzgerald had an assist. Abington goalie Kate Margolis was credited with 11 saves and one caused turnover.
