CB East had a good showing in the Elizabethtown Tournament over the weekend.
Already playing without two starters, the Patriots lost setter Trevor Clemens
to injury very early in the day. Libero/OH Mike Donovan was forced to set
and did an incredible day, finishing with 39 assists to go along with his 13
digs and 9 kills. Mike is one of the best all around players in our area.
East was led offensively by Nick Bennett and Kyle Dolf. Bennett finished the
day with 12 digs, 3 aces and an impressive 64 kills. Dolf did everything for
the Patriots, accumulating 12 aces, 43 kills,26 digs, and 59 assists! Jack
Perrotta added 13 kills for East, and Colby Talia anchored a strong defense,
picking up 25 digs with a passer rating of nearly 2.5. Before going down
with an injury, Clemens picked up 6 digs and 13 assists. Nick DeSalvo added
3 kills, and Zack "Bobcat" Davis picked up 8 digs to go with his 2 kills.
CB East finished 1st in pool play with a 6-2 record. The Patriots split with
Elizabethtown and Wyomissing, while sweeping Mechanicsburg and Unionville.
After a first round bye, East defeated Holy Redeemer in the semis, before
falling in the finals to McCaskey in a thrilling 3 set match. Set scores for
the finals were 25-23; 24-26, and 14-16.
