Warrington, PA – Tyler McGee scored on a break-away with 47 seconds to go in a second overtime as Central Bucks South edged cross-town rival Central Bucks West 9-8 in boys lacrosse on Tuesday night. The game was close for most of the night but CB South took a 1 goal lead with 6 minutes to go in regulation on a Jake Henze’s second goal of the night. With just over 3 minutes left, CB West was hit with a 2 minute unreleasable penalty, which appeared to put CB South in control of the game, however, CB West was able to stop the Titans from scoring to keep the game within reach. Coming out of a timeout with 15 seconds left on the clock, West’s Riley Kratzke ripped one home with 3 seconds in regulation to tie the game. The Bucks and Titans traded possessions in the first overtime with both goalies making critical saves. McGee won it with a breakaway in the second overtime. For the game CB South had 39 shots to CB West’s 40. West’s Sam Piccone led all scorers with 3 goals and CB South was led by Freshman Jake Henze’s 2 goals and 1 assist. Goalie Ryan Kelly played well in the net with 19 saves for the Titans. With the win, CB South (7-9; 6-4 SOL) has assured itself of a 3rd place tie with Souderton in the Suburban One Continental Conference and keeps its hopes alive for a spot in the PIAA playoffs, which begin next week.
