BASEBALL
Chestnut Hill senior outfielder Alex Latchum (Central Bucks South) received the coach’s award for the 2012 season. He led off the Griffin lineup with a .279 batting average (43-for-154) and a .397 on-base percentage. He totaled 29 runs, 12 RBIs and 15 stolen bases (15-of-17), while earning a Second Team selection for an American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) Rawlings Gold Glove (1.000 fielding percentage, 72 putouts, three assists).

La Salle senior Kevin Christy (North Penn) was named to the All-Philadelphia Big 5 team in voting conducted by the city’s coaches and sports information directors. Christy was named to the All-Big 5 team as a starting pitcher. The right hander posted a 2.95 ERA, the second lowest of any starting pitcher in the city. He fanned 85 batters in 88.1 innings while walking just 17. Opponents batted only .243 against the North Penn alum, and Christy was equally tough in conference games, posting a 2.92 ERA. He finished his career as the school record holder in strikeouts and is in the top 10 in five other categories in program history (ERA, appearances, starts, innings pitched and wins). It is the first time he has been recognized by the Philadelphia Big 5.

Junior Eric Ruth (North Penn) struck out 75 batters this season to lead his Winthrop University squad in that category.

MEN’S LACROSSE
Kyle Quist (Central Bucks East)
and Bryan Dacey (Central Bucks West) were part of a Salisbury University squad that captured the 2012 NCAA Division III National Championship as a result of its 14-10 win over SUNY Cortland. Quist contributed an assist in the win. Salisbury closed out its season with a 23-0 record and boasts a 30-ga
me winning streak.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE
Chestnut Hill senior attack Kelly McKay (Pennridge) had a career-best six goals and three assists in the Griffins 17-11 win over Wilmington University this spring. She finished the season as the Griffins second-leading scorer with 28 goals and six assists while also recording 13 ground balls, 32 draws and three caused turnovers.

MEN'S TENNIS
Jonathan Coombs (Hatboro-Horsham) compiled a record of 9-2 during his freshman season at Wesleyan University, tying the 2002 record for most wins in a season. Coombs was 3-0 in singles competition and 6-2 in doubles.

MEN’S TRACK & FIELD
Brandon Bennett-Green (Cheltenham) was part of Penn State’s 4x400-meter relay team that turned in a school record time of 3:01.52 in qualifying on Thursday evening at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Bennett-Green ran a 44.8 on the second leg of the race. The Lions’ time was the fastest of the evening. In Saturday’s final, the relay team turned in a fourth place finish, posting a time of 3:01.58. The squad is Penn State’s first ever All-America squad in the outdoor 4x400.

WOMEN’S TRACK & FIELD
Ijeoma Iheoma (Council Rock South)
was part of Penn State’s 4x400 relay that finished 14th overall at the 2012 NCAA Outdoor Championships on Thursday night with a time of 3:33.03, just .01 shy of their season-best performance.
