On Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012, Souderton seniors Ann Fadden, Ozzie Moyer and Tyler Wenzel were recognized at a special news conference for signing letters of intent to compete in swimming/diving at the collegiate level.
Ann Fadden – University of Delaware (Swimming)
Major: Undecided
Final list of colleges: Delaware, Bucknell, Marist, Millersville
Reasons for choosing Delaware: “I loved the team, I loved the campus, and the coaches were very nice. I felt like I fit in right away.”
What was the progression that led you to swimming at the collegiate level? “I didn’t swim my freshman year – I started my sophomore year, and at the time, I was aiming towards water polo. I started having shoulder problems, and I realized if I kept going with water polo, it would damage me permanently. Once I really put my heart towards swimming, I started to get much better and started getting recognized.”
Coach Todd Bauer says: “The family has a history in swimming, and Ann started swimming as a sophomore. She’s quickly progressed, but since she started as a sophomore, we have not yet seen the best of her. It’s a shame she didn’t start a year earlier because I think she would have gotten a lot of scholarship opportunities.”

Ozzie Moyer – University of North Carolina (Diving)
Major: Undecided
Final list of colleges: UNC, Penn State, West Virginia, Pittsburgh
Reasons for choosing UNC: “I have been diving for 12 years, and I chose to dive for the University of North Carolina because when I went on my recruiting trip, it just felt like the best fit athletically and academically. I just loved the atmosphere down there, and the team was really nice – it seemed like I fit in with the team really well.”
What was the progression that led you to diving at the collegiate level? “The end of my sophomore year was when I really started thinking about diving in college. I joined a USA club diving team, and after that, I really started to get serious about diving in college. Going to the meets over summer and meeting college coaches is when it really started because I started to see that the opportunities were there – I just had to pursue them.”
Coach Todd Bauer says: “I don’t know what to say about Ozzie. He’s just a wonderful student-athlete, he’s a wonderful person, and he’s just a great kid. I can remember him diving for the (community) team when he was five and I was in open, and he was great then. We’ve always known that Ozzie was coming up – he was the kid in the program that everybody couldn’t wait for. I can’t believe the four years are over. Diving is a low profile sport, and people don’t understand what a high caliber athlete he is. He’s just phenomenal.”

Tyler Wenzel – Bucknell University (Diving)
Major: Science
Final list of colleges: Bucknell, Colgate, Iona
Reasons for choosing Bucknell: “It started off because every year we went there for the (state) meet, and every time I stepped onto the campus I just had the right feeling that this is where I wanted to be. I went to visit, and I really liked the environment and how the team welcomed me. Also, I was excited to be diving D-1 next year and to pursue my career in diving.”
What was the progression that led you to diving at the collegiate level? “I started thinking about diving in college my sophomore year when I qualified for states. After that season of hard work and making it to states, I realized I could definitely compete and become part of a D-1 diving team.”
Coach Todd Bauer says: “Tyler was a guy without diving experience, and Ozzie kind of convinced him to come out for the diving team his freshman year. He’s progressed so much from making districts as a freshman, then making states as a sophomore and then scoring at states as a junior and senior. He was just very committed to it. He comes to everything all spring and summer, and he works very hard at it. I think it was the right sport for him. He got involved in water polo and was an all-state water polo player as well. He’s a very talented kid. I’m especially proud of him because he’s going to Bucknell and that’s where I went. It’s an honor to have him go there and be part of the program I was.
