On Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, Pennsbury senior Stephanie Fischer was recognized at a special news conference for signing a letter of intent to play collegiate soccer.
Stephanie Fischer – Holy Family University (Soccer)
Major: Education
Final list of colleges: Holy Family, TCNJ, University of South Florida
Reasons for choosing Holy Family: “I just felt very comfortable as soon as I arrived on the campus. The people were very friendly, and it was small. I enjoy a smaller school, and the girls on the team were nice.”
What was the progression that led you to playing collegiate soccer? “Ever since eighth grade and following into high school, I really wanted to play soccer and play varsity as young as I could. I went to a lot of games, and just watching collegiate soccer made me really want to play in college. I started at a young age. I wanted to follow it and play as long as I could.”
Coach Kaitlyn Battiste says: “She was someone who had a lot of confidence on the field and was very comfortable with the ball at her feet. She was our senior captain who definitely led by example. She had a quiet presence, but she would much rather have her actions lead rather than her words. She definitely had a lot of respect and was very valuable for blending freshmen through seniors and building that team chemistry.”
