Strengths/Question Marks:
The strength of the 2012 Abington Golf team lies with the leadership of four seasoned seniors at the top of the lineup.  Each of these players has been competing for Abington as either a Varsity or JV golfer since 9th grade, and each are focused and determined to leave their mark in their final season playing for the Abington ghosts.

Question marks for the ghosts this year are the depth of the team.  With four seniors graduating after this year, the team looks to the underclassmen to see who will rise to fill in the ranks next year.  Three golfers are new to the Varsity level and one golfer is brand to the Abington golf program.

Outlook:

This year, Abington introduces two new coaches to the golf program.  Jason Cottone begins is varsity coaching debut for 2012, and Ryan Cragle debuts as a first year JV coach for the ghosts.  With the passing of the torch, change brings a certain level of uncertainty.  Coach Cottone plans to continue with the longstanding Abington golf traditions of excellence, integrity, competitiveness, and sportsmanship in the Suburban One League.  This season, we are going to breath deeply and take things one shot at a time.

Key players to note this season:

Senior Team Captain, Nick Coyle, who looks to return to districts and advance out of districts in his final year as a ghost golfer.

Senior Jake Shur also looks to make his mark at the district tournament this year and advance.

Senior Brian Hanley looks to be one of the top team’s in our SOL conference and make the SOL tournament this year.

Senior CJ Brennan looks to make the SOL Tournament as well as advancing to districts.
