CONTINENTAL CONFERENCE
Central Bucks East 2, Central Bucks West 1
The Patriots and Bucks entered Tuesday’s matchup tied for second place in the conference standings with identical records (5-2-1). East was the winner the last time the two teams met, and the Patriots were thrilled to record their second win of the season over their crosstown rivals.
“It was very nice to beat West twice,” coach Paul Eisold said. “I don’t know when the last time that has happened for us. It was a good solid win. West is a very good team.”
Taylor Mysza scored to give the Patriots a 1-0 lead, but the Bucks soon answered when Quin McNamara capitalized on a penalty kick opportunity to send the teams into halftime deadlocked 1-1. The winning goal came 20 minutes into the second half when Nicole Pannella controlled a ball in the midfield and placed it in the middle where Shaun Kane headed it into the goal. Eisold recognized the solid performances of midfielders Holly Moyer and Aimee Chimera in the victory as well as newcomer Emma Loving, a freshman who is starting to make an impact on the varsity field.
The Patriots are still trying to catch up to the first place Rams, but Tuesday’s win put them all alone in second and leaves West in third place.
“This gives us one more step to being closer to where we want to be,” Eisold said.

The Rams celebrated their Senior Night with a victory over Quakertown under the lights. The Rams scored two minutes before halftime when Brooke Souder buried a cross from Megan Shenk, sending her team to the half with a 2-0 lead. They jumped out to a 3-0 lead at the half after a pair goals by Nicole Moonan and one by Leighann Bertolett – Bertolett’s with a Noonan assist. However, the Indians star was under the weather and Coach Larry Sullivan removed Noonan from the game.
“It was hanging at 3-0, but they started to come back, so I put her back in,” the Indians’ coach said.
It didn’t take long for Noonan to find the net again to complete her hat trick and increase the Indians’ lead to 4-0. The Ghosts (3-6 SOL) kept fighting and managed to score a single goal to ruin the Indians’ shutout bid. The Indians maintain their second place spot in the conference after the victory.

AMERICAN CONFERENCE
Cheltenham 2, Plymouth Whitemarsh 1
The Panthers (5-4 SOL) won their fifth consecutive game when they upset third place PW (5-3-1 SOL) on a rain-soaked, sloppy Tuesday. The teams were tied 0-0 until senior Max Martin broke the deadlock in the 58th minute with a shot in the box off a corner kick. A mere two minutes later, Joe Galtman converted a penalty kick drawn by teammate Kyree Willis-Lear to increase the Panther’s lead to 2-0. The Colonials never gave up and managed to score a goal in the final seconds to end keeper Jonah Katz’s 239-minute streak without allowing a goal and preventing what would have been his third consecutive shutout. Coach Chuck Gesing is no stranger to one-goal games, but he is happy he has been on the winning side of them recently.
“Where we were losing by a goal, now we’re winning by a goal,” the Panthers’ coach said. “We are focusing on converting opportunities and not squandering them and we are doing a much better job.”
Five of the Panthers nine league contests have been one-goal games.
Gesing applauded the efforts of Willis-Lear in this battle as well as the performance of junior midfielder Jordan Chaplin, who, the Panthers’ coach said, “did a fantastic job managing the game.”
The Panthers travel to Upper Dublin Thursday night to take on the second place Flying Cardinals.
“We are going to go back to what we do - defend really hard and we just hope we come away with a victory,” Gesing said. “We’ve got to play our best and get a good result.”
