ABINGTON 4, HARRY S TRUMAN 1
Junior Lizzy Petermichl connected for the first hat trick of her career in Tuesday’s win, scoring a pair of first half goals and adding a single goal in the second half. Assisting on her goals were Katherine Geating, Kate Tarasiewicz and Maddie Jones. Clare Rowley (Geating assist) closed out the scoring for the Ghosts when she connected with 8:11 remaining in the second half.
Truman continued to battle and broke up the Ghosts’ shutout bid when Maikaela Pachecko turned a pass from Madalyn Pachecko into a goal for the 4-1 final.
While the Tigers saw their record drop to 1-10 in conference play (3-11 overall), the Ghosts improved to 2-7-2 in league play (3-9-2 overall).
NESHAMINY 1, WILLIAM TENNENT 0
The Redskins remain tied for the top spot in the conference standings after Tuesday’s tightly contested win. Amanda Blum scored the game winner at the 11:20 mark, using an assist from teammate Brittany Sheenan.
The Redskins are 10-1 in conference play (11-3 overall) while the Panthers saw their record drop to 5-5 in the league (6-7 overall).

Continental Conference
PENNRIDGE 3, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 2
The Rams pulled off the upset of the day, using a goal by Merlissa Herd (Kelly Wolff assist) to eke out the big Senior Night win.
“It was a total team effort,” Pennridge coach Nikki Thren said. “There was support everywhere on the field. There was a ‘want’ tonight that I could see was definitely there. Every time they came off the field, you could just feel it, so I think that’s really what kept it together for us – the intensity, the support and the teamwork.”
The Bucks took an early lead with a goal from Heather Zezzo (Virginia Moore assist) at the 22:44 mark. Just over a minute later, Kari Moyer (Herd assist) answered with a goal for the Rams. Addy Marshall’s goal, using a Kyra Preston assist, sent the Rams into halftime with a 2-1 lead. Moore scored the equalizer (Zezzo assist) at the 26:12 mark only to watch Herd win it for the Rams.
Thren acknowledged that this win belonged to the entire squad.
“Madi Reiss yet again came up strong on the defensive end,” the Rams’ coach said. “Our goalie (Sarah Seiler) performed when we needed her to.
“Our midfield was supportive on attack and defense. Melissa Herd and Kelly Wolff had great games. On the forward line, Jess Tennett scores once in a while, but the effort she puts out there unfortunately sometimes doesn’t get recognized.
“It’s hard to single anyone out because everybody played well tonight, to the point where I was afraid to make changes.”
The Bucks held a 13-11 edge in shots while the Rams had a 10-6 advantage in corners. Seiler turned away eight shots for the Rams in goal while Courtney Kauffman had five saves for the Bucks.
The Rams are 3-7-1 in league play (6-7-1 overall) while the Bucks are 7-4 in the league (11-4 overall).
CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 1, HATBORO-HORSHAM 0
The Titans controlled play but managed to score just one goal as Amber Steigerwalt connected for the game winner with 4:21 remaining.
“The team really showed patience tonight,” Mackenzie Harding said. “We stayed focused, and Amber made the most of an opportunity.”
The Titans held an 18-7 advantage in corners with 12 of those coming in the second half.
"Our defense on the corners was amazing," Hatter coach Laura Swezey said. "Emily Braunewell had 10 saves, and our defensive corner players of Jenna Cutilli (flyer) along with Casey Swezey, Jane Henry and Rachel Rausa stopped a few shots."
With the win, the Titans improved to 10-1 in conference play (14-1 overall).
“We really felt we dictated and controlled play,” said co-coach Jeff Harding, whose team had 18 penalty corners. “We spent the majority of the game with our feet facing forward and playing attack hockey.
“The team is making good decisions and finding open space to go forward.”
The Hatters, who remain tied with CB West in second place, fell to 7-4 in the league (8-6 overall).
NORTH PENN 3, QUAKERTOWN 0
On Sept. 14, the Maidens fell to Quakertown 1-0 and saw their record drop to 0-6 on the season.
A whole lot has changed in the weeks since that disappointing loss for the Maidens, and they not only emphatically avenged their loss to the Panthers on Tuesday, they also upped their record to 6-1-1 since that early season loss.
Emma Herb (Casey O’Donnell assist) put the Maidens on the scoreboard eight minutes into the game. The Maidens led 2-0 after Erika Myslinski (O’Donnell assist) scored with three minutes remaining in the half. Shannon Talbot (Katrina Marger/Alexa Gable assists) scored on a penalty corner 10 minutes into the second half for the 3-0 final.
The Maidens dominance in Tuesday’s win is underscored by their advantage in shots (23-3) and penalty corners (9-1).
Maiden goalie Chessa Kownurko was credited with three saves in the shutout while her counterpart, Maddie Calder, turned away 20 shots in a busy afternoon in the cage.
The Maidens are 5-5-1 in SOL play (6-7-1 overall) while the Panthers fell to 3-8 in the league (7-8 overall).
SOUDERTON 3, CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 2
The Indians won a thriller on Tuesday, using a pair of late goals to earn the come-from-behind win.
Tabatha Almond gave the Indians an early lead with a goal less than 10 minutes into the opening half, but the Patriots knotted the score on a goal by Marissa Glatt, sending the two teams into halftime deadlocked 1-1.
Glatt converted a penalty stroke at the 28:11 mark of the second half to put the Patriots on top 2-1, but Almond knotted the score at the 5:56 mark, and Abbey Gabriel scored with 1:28 remaining to propel the Indians to the dramatic win.
“We put up a good fight today,” coach Lauren Whiteside said. “We were down most of the second half, and my girls were not having it. With a little spark, they were able to score two goals in the final six minutes.
“This is the kind of win we needed to prove to ourselves that we are capable of scoring and scoring quickly. It’s getting down to the wire now with the (post)season right around the corner – every team is going to give it their all, and we need to be ready for that.”
Souderton upped its league mark to 6-5 (7-6 overall), and the Patriots fell to 2-9 in the league (3-11 overall).
American Conference
WISSAHICKON 7, CHELTENHAM 1
Emily Gallagher scored a pair of goals while teammates Jackie Hibbs, Catherine Campbell, Angela Virtu, Stacie Rocco and Melanie Fry each added single goals. Hibbs also had three assists, and Virtu had two assists. Ashley Laskowitz also had an assist.
Gabby Szczepanek accounted for the Lady Panthers only goal. Cheltenham goalie Emily Hawkins was credited with 29 saves while Wissahickon’s Emoni Fisher had three saves.
The Lady Panthers fell to 2-9 in league play (2-12 overall) while the Trojans improved to 10-1 in league play (12-3 overall).
UPPER MERION 2, PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 1
With five seconds remaining in the first half, Danielle Antonucci (Lindsay Zamites assist) put the Vikings on the scoreboard when she connected for a goal. Zamites scored a second half goal that turned out to be the game winner to put the Vikings on top 2-0, using an Amanda McAteer assist.
PW answered with a goal from Courtney Konowal (Rachel Konowal assist) to make it a 2-1 game, but the Vikings held on for the win.
“PW dominated the second half and had many chances to score, but it didn’t happen,” Colonials’ coach Andrea Carr said.
Viking goalie Devyn Antonucci was credited with eight saves.
The Vikings are 6-4 in league play (6-5 overall) while the Colonials are 6-5 in the league (6-8 overall).
UPPER DUBLIN 3, UPPER MORELAND 1
Jen Harchut scored during corner play (Sam Boyd assist) to put the Flying Cardinals on the scoreboard only to watch the Golden Bears knot the score on a goal by Alexa Wister. Harchut scored again, this time with a Shelby Kenny assist, and Boyd tacked on an insurance goal for the 3-1 halftime score that held until the final whistle.
The Flying Cardinals had an 11-2 edge in corners.
While the Golden Bears fell to 0-11 in conference play (1-13 overall), the Flying Cardinals improved to 4-7 in the league (4-9 overall).
SPRINGFIELD (MONTCO) 8, NORRISTOWN 1
The Spartans kept pace with the Trojans with their win over the Eagles. Juli Cardamone (Marie Brockman assist) connected on her first of three goals at the 1:15 mark of the opening half. Six minutes later she added another goal, this one with a Colleen Morris assist. Then Maria Vido, who also connected for the hat trick, got into the act, scoring with a Libby Field assist to put the Spartans on top 3-0 less than 10 minutes into the game. By halftime, the Spartans led 5-1 on their way to the big win.
Also scoring goals for the Spartans were Colleen Morris and Adrienne Baer. Field and Brockman both finished the day with a pair of assists.
Amelia Schunder (Monica Levin assist) accounted for Norristown’s only goal.
The Spartans held an advantage in shots (19-5) and penalty corners (11-1).
Springfield goalie Kim Machalette was credited with four saves while Norristown’s keepers combined to make 11 saves.
While the Eagles fell to 6-5 in league play (7-5 overall), the Spartans improved to 9-1 in the league (10-1 overall).
