Sterling Limousine and Transportation Services of Wrightstown is proud to recognize the Players of the Game for SOL teams that are part of each week’s SuburbanOneSports.com’s Featured Games.
CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH at NORTH PENN (Central Bucks 36, North Penn 29)
Sterling Limousine Offensive Player of the Game – John Pileggi III, Central Bucks South
The Titans’ senior quarterback completed 18-of-27 passes for 237 yards and four touchdowns. His fourth TD pass, a 17-yard strike to Cale Mosher with 1:07 remaining, was the game winner. Pileggi has completed over 80 percent of his passes and boasts a quarterback rating for the season of 208.00. He has thrown 11 TD passes and only one interception.
Coach Dave Rackovan says: “He engineered the comeback by making a lot of tough throws under a lot of pressure, being able to really take advantage of some matchups that we were looking at and going to the right people. He just made the some great throws.”
Sterling Limousine Defensive Player of the Game –John Mullin, Central Bucks South
The Titans’ senior middle linebacker helped anchor the defense, delivering a team high 13 tackles.
Coach Dave Rackovan says: “He just plays so consistently and with a lot of emotion and a lot of effort. He’s been doing that pretty much every game.”
Sterling Limousine Special Teams Player of the Game – Cale Mosher, Central Bucks South
The senior wide receiver was key for the Titans’ on special teams, repeatedly making the big tackles on kickoffs.
Coach Dave Rackovan says: “He’s a kid that makes almost every tackle on our kickoff coverage. He’s the first guy down, and he’s one of those guys that just has a knack for getting down there, understanding returns and putting himself in a position to make plays. He’s a great effort kid in that regard.”
BENSALEM at WILLIAM TENNENT (William Tennent 35, Bensalem 21)
Sterling Limousine Offensive Co-Player of the Game – Jeff Ledford, William Tennent
The Panthers’ senior wide receiver was pressed into emergency duty at quarterback when starting QB Joe Lutz went down with a knee injury late in the first quarter. Ledford threw only one pass and completed it for eight yards, but he had 11 carries for 122 yards and effectively directed the Panthers’ offense.
Coach Biz Keeny says: “Jeff’s probably one of the three best athletes in our conference, but what surprised me was that Jeff did so well managing the game. For a kid that hasn’t had a ton of quarterback experience other than in practice – I think we used him a series against Upper Merion, but this wasn’t a series. This was 44 minutes of a football game. I was very pleased to see Jeff handle the game the way he did. At seven o’clock, he came down the hill as a wide receiver, and at 7:30, he was a quarterback, and you can’t script that. It’s the adaptation that I enjoyed seeing as a coach because you just never know. He did a good job.”
Sterling Limousine Offensive Co-Player of the Game – Alex Perks, William Tennent
The junior running back took advantage of his extended playing time to make an impact, carrying the ball 12 times for 126 yards and three touchdowns.
Coach Biz Keeny says: “We have watched him develop as a player each week. It just so happened he got the opportunity, and he had some success early. He’s still learning the role of a varsity player. He’ll make some mistakes, but he’s got excellent speed. He’s on our 4x100 track team, so when he gets out, he’s going to go. What we were waiting for him to do is what he did on Friday night. He’s very, very shifty, and he has very good vision. We have kind of taken the reins off him and said, ‘Find the first seam, and get what you can get.’ He’s a very, very good cutback runner.”
Sterling Limousine Defensive Player of the Game – Pat Lydon, William Tennent
The strong safety anchored the Panthers’ defense, delivering nine tackles and an interception.
Coach Biz Keeny says: “We try to put Pat in the thick of things all the time. This was the first week we put him outside of where people like to run the ball. When Pat’s on the field, he’ll be around the football. He just enjoys that challenge. I thought he did a real nice job of disguising the coverage on the interception because he sat back a little bit and waited and waited. Pat’s been out there a couple of years, so he’s very comfortable in the role we put him in. He’s listed as a secondary guy but has the mindset of a linebacker.”
Sterling Limousine Special Teams Player of the Game – Mike Wasserleben, William Tennent
The senior kicker, who also is a key member of the soccer team, was a perfect 5-for-5 on PATs and also was effective on kickoffs. He also handles the punting duties.
Coach Biz Keeny says: “I always have a place in my heart for soccer kids who play a soccer game and then come kick at a football game. Mike has done an excellent job at whatever we’ve asked him to do.”
PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH at WISSAHICKON (Plymouth Whitemarsh 35, Wissahickon 21)
Sterling Limousine Offensive Co-Player of the Game –Pete Giorgio, Plymouth Whitemarsh
The Colonials’ senior quarterback completed 11-of-14 passes for 104 yards. He also had three carries for 44 yards, including a 32-yard TD run.
Coach Dan Chang says: “Pete has been getting better every game. He started to get a good grasp on what we needed to do on our offense. He made a lot of great reads to put us in the right spot for us to move the ball. We require a lot from our quarterbacks in our style of offense, and he just continues to get better and better. He works hard. He’s been asked to play a little bit of defense too, so even with more on his plate, it’s nice to see he’s getting better offensively.”
Sterling Limousine Offensive Co-Player of the Game –Corey Kelly, Plymouth Whitemarsh
The senior fullback had a monster night, accumulating 254 yards on 34 carries with three touchdowns.
Coach Dan Chang says: “Kelly has been our go-to guy offensively. We continued to feed him the ball all game, and he runs harder and harder as the game goes on. Teams know we’re going to go to him when we need yards, and still, it’s tough to stop him because he won’t go down on the first or second hit.”
Sterling Limousine Defensive Co-Player of the Game –Conor Watton, Plymouth Whitemarsh
The second-year starter led the Colonials’ defense at linebacker. He not only had several huge tackles, he also made the calls to ensure the defense was in the right position.
Coach Dan Chang says: “He’s just a very solid football player. He makes great reads at linebacker and follows his blocks and does his job. That was huge for us against Wissahickon. He’s a great tackler and has a nose for the football. He seems to always be around the football making big plays.”
Sterling Limousine Defensive Co-Player of the Game – Jack Mailey, Plymouth Whitemarsh
The Colonials’ junior anchored a defensive line that controlled the Trojans’ running game.
Coach Dan Chang says: “He was in their backfield the whole game, causing havoc back there, but he also was doing a good job of doing his responsibility, beating blocks, making tackles and playing team defense. Jack is a guy with a constant motor. He’s always running to the ball. He just doesn’t stop.”
ABINGTON at PENNSBURY (Pennsbury 35, Abington 9)
Sterling Limousine Overall Player of the Game - Ryan Muse, Pennsbury
The senior cornerback had four tackles and returned an interception 65 yards for a touchdown.
Coach Galen Snyder says: “He’s very good in coverage, he’s athletic, and he did a nice job of controlling Abington’s receivers.”
Sterling Limousine Offensive Player of the Game – Charlie Snorweah, Pennsbury
The sophomore running back’s line for the game would show that he had two rushes for six yards, but what those stats don’t show is the job he did blocking for his teammates in Saturday’s decisive win over the Ghosts.
Coach Galen Snyder says: “He’s did a great job blocking all night.”
Sterling Limousine Defensive Player of the Game – Luke Johnson, Pennsbury
The senior lineman delivered a sack and six tackles to lead a stingy Pennsbury defensive unit.
Coach Galen Snyder says: “Luke has been a two-year starter, and he’s done a good job. He’s quick, he gets to the ball and he makes plays.”
