MEN’S BASKETBALL
Senior guard Jim Connolly (Souderton) led all players with 18 points, which included a 7-for-7 effort at the foul line, in Philadelphia University’s 72-58 win over Molloy on Saturday. Junior guard Nick Christian (Bensalem) added 12 points, seven rebounds and five assists. In Tuesday’s 68-61 win over the University of the Sciences, Christian scored 15 points while Connolly added 11, which included three three-pointers.

Khalif Wyatt (Norristown) scored 17 points in Temple’s 77-63 win over Rice on Saturday. In Tuesday’s 80-66 win over Kent State, Wyatt – who was forced to leave the game with a mild hamstring strain - had a team-high six assists to go along with seven points. Dalton Pepper (Pennsbury) contributed four points and four rebounds in 23 minutes in his Temple debut.  

Sophomore guard Sean Brooks (North Penn) scored a career-high 10 points in Washington College’s 102-70 loss to #25 Hampden-Sydney on Saturday.

Senior guard Derek Brooks (North Penn) contributed four points and five rebounds in Gettysburg’s 60-39 win over Keuka College in the opening round of the 22nd annual Gettysburg Tip-Off Tournament on Friday.

CJ Aiken (Plymouth Whitemarsh) contributed 11 points and seven rebounds in St. Joseph University’s 79-70 upset of #20 Notre Dame in the opening round of the 2012 Coaches vs. Cancer Classic on Friday.  In Saturday’s 73-66 loss to Florida State in the title game, Aiken had 10 points.

Junior guard Jesse Krasna (Pennsbury) scored 11 points on 4-for-4 shooting from the field in Ursinus College’s 61-60 loss to Staten Island on Saturday at the Rinso Marquette Tournament hosted by Lebanon Valley. Ursinus led by three (58-55) after freshman Mark Wonderling (Souderton) buried a pair of foul shots. In Friday’s 78-73 loss to nationally-ranked Middlebury, Wonderling scored seven points in 24 minutes.

Freshman Arron Goodman (Council Rock North) posted his second double-double in as many games in Cabrini’s 96-59 loss to No. 2 Virginia Wesleyan in the final of the Marlins’ Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday, contributing 17 points on 8-of-12 shooting to go along with 10 rebounds. Senior Goran Dulac (Pennsbury) added eight points while junior Fan Rafferty (Upper Merion) grabbed nine rebounds. In Saturday’s opening round 89-77 win over the Apprentice School, Goodman led the Cavaliers by contributing 21 points, 11 rebounds and three steals. Rafferty added 18 points on 7-of-13 shooting and grabbed seven rebounds.

Joe Renzi (Abington) registered a game-high six assists in Elizabethtown’s 78-76 loss to Bridgewater (Va.) on Saturday in the Eastern Mennonite University Tip-Off Classic.

Pat Furst (Central Bucks West) scored seven points in Wilkes University’s 68-61 win over Penn State Hazleton on Friday.

Sophomore Mike Marvin (Hatboro-Horsham) scored 17 points and pulled down 19 rebounds for his second consecutive double-double of the season in Penn State Abington’s 74-65 loss to Neumann University in the consolation game of the Richard Stockton Tip-Off Tournament. In Friday’s opening round 88-75 loss to Richard Stockton, Marvin contributed 16 points and 13 rebounds.

Junior Lorenzo Christmas (Norristown) scored 17 points in Bloomsburg’s 79-78 win over Penn State Hazleton on Thursday.

Ryan Connolly (Souderton) contributed nine points and seven rebounds in Kutztown’s 92-78 win over Wilmington on Wednesday.

Freshman Ryan Arcidiacono (Neshaminy) scored 18 points in Villanova’s 89-81 win over Purdue in the semifinal of the 2K Sports Classic at Madison Square Garden on Thursday night. In Friday’s 77-55 loss to Alabama, Arcidiacono had 11 points.

Tim Abruzzo (Pennridge) scored a game-high 22 points in Navy Prep’s 55-52 win over Central Maine in the opening round of the SMCC Tip-Off Classic.

Sophomore Whis Grant (Plymouth Whitemarsh) had eight points in East Stroudsburg’s 68-53 loss to the University of the Sciences on Saturday. In last Sunday’s 97-79 win at Shepherd, Grant had 13 points.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Freshman Stephanie Knauer (North Penn) scored a game-high 22 points in Shippensburg’s 76-68 win over West Liberty on Saturday in the consolation game of the Wolf’s Bus Lines Classic. Knauer went 12-of-14 from the free throw line and collected 10 rebounds for her first career double-double. For her efforts, she was named to the all-tournament team. In an opening round 65-60 loss to Davis & Elkins on Friday, Knauer contributed 10 points and four rebounds.

Mashira Newman (Upper Dublin) shot 7-for-9 from the floor for 18 points and added seven rebounds, six steals and four assists in Millersville’s 94-56 win over Wilmington (Del.) on Saturday.

Kelsey Ryan (Neshaminy) scored a career-high 18 points in Lock Haven’s 60-50 loss to Chestnut Hill in its season opener on Monday. She shot 8-for-14 from the field and grabbed eight rebounds.

Freshman guard Helena Gemmell (Council Rock North) had eight points, five rebounds and five steals in 17 minutes in her collegiate debut in East Stroudsburg’s 53-47 loss to No. 12 Holy Family on Wednesday.

Shannon Barlow (Neshaminy) scored 11 points in Delaware Valley’s 84-81 loss to Emory and Henry in the consolation game of the McDaniel College Tip-Off tournament on Saturday. In Friday’s 78-53 loss to Widener, Barlow had nine points and six rebounds.

Junior Brittany Sandone (Souderton) had 14 points, which included 8-for-8 from the free throw line, in Cabrini’s 50-34 win over Washington & Lee University at the Swarthmore College Tip-Off Tournament on Saturday.

Freshman Alex Wheatley (Council Rock South) scored nine points, which included a perfect 3-for-3 from the free throw line, in her collegiate debut in Princeton’s 69-59 win over St. Joseph’s last Sunday.

Freshman forward Tori Steinberg (Central Bucks South) scored a team-high 12 points in Ursinus College’s 59-54 win over Cortland on Saturday at the 24th Annual Pepsi Tip-Off Tournament hosted by Susquehanna University.

Sophomore Jessica Schmidt (Abington) shot 57 percent from the field for 10 points in Penn State Abington’s 90-54 loss to Salisbury University on Saturday in the consolation game of the Gwynedd-Mercy Tip-Off Tournament. Schmidt earned a spot on the all-tournament team. In Friday’s 96-53 loss to Gwnedd-Mercy, Schmidt contributed 16 points and nine rebounds.

Sophomore Kristen Fuery (Upper Dublin) scored 11 points off the bench, which included three three-pointers, in Gwynedd-Mercy’s 93-74 loss to Montclair State in Saturday’s title game of the 2012 GMC Tip-Off Tournament Championship. Sophomore Natasha Matthews (Norristown) led the Griffins with 10 rebounds. In Friday’s opening round 96-53 win over Penn State Abington, junior Jordan Dominic (Pennridge) scored 13 points while Matthews pulled down a team-high nine rebounds.

Kimmy Green (Central Bucks South) contributed four points and two steals in Marywood's 62-52 win over Clarkson on Sunday.

MEN’S CROSS COUNTRY
Moravian sophomore Dillon Farrell (Wissahickon) was named the Landmark Conference Runner
of the Year and also earned All-Region honors. Farrell won the conference championship meet and earned a spot on the all-conference first team, posting a winning time of 26:02.60, which was 43.5 seconds ahead of the runner-up. Farrell, who was recovering from an injury at the Landmark meet in 2011, earned All-Conference honors for the first time after missing the second team by two spots last year. He also was named to the Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll. Farrell qualified to compete in the NCAA Division III National Championships. Senior Donnie Noble (Souderton) finished third in the conference meet with a time of 27:01.70 to earn all-conference honors for the first time. 

 

WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY
Moravian’s Jessie Goldberg (Plymouth Whitemarsh) was named to the Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll. She finished 14th at the conference meet with a time of 25:12.90 to earn all-conference honors for the first time.

FIELD HOCKEY
Franklin & Marshall senior Maura Hennigan (Central Bucks West) was named to the All-Centennial Conference first team. A first team all-region selection last year, Hennigan became the second straight F&M player to win CC Player of the Year honors, concluding her career as one of the best players in program history. She was the leader of the midfield for the Diplomats, tallying four goals and two assists from her center-mid spot. The Diplomats finished the year with a school-record 18 wins, won their first-ever CC Championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the second straight year.

Lebanon Valley senior Caitlin Vasey (Central Bucks East) was named to the 2012 Longstreth/NFHCA Division II All-Region first team. She is only the second Lebanon Valley field hockey student-athlete to be a four-time all-region selection. Vasey led LVC with 11 assists to go along with four goals this season. Her 57 career assists ranks 10th all-time in NCAA Division III as she moved into the LVC all-time top five with 149 career points.

FOOTBALL
Albright defensive back Drew Peterson (Harry S Truman) earned first team all-MAC honors. The junior safety led Albright with four interceptions while also forcing and recovering a fumble. He was named to the D3football.com and BSN national teams of the week after picking off two passes vs. Wilkes and returned a punt for a touchdown vs. Misericordia. Defensive lineman Matt Pattison (Pennridge) was named to the second team after being named All-MAC in 2011. A senior captain, Pattison totaled 3.5 sacks, 8.0 tackles for loss and recovered a fumble for a touchdown. Sophomore Chris Stephens (Cheltenham) earned honorable mention recognition after emerging as the team's best cover cornerback. Stephens had 38 tackles, one interception and a team-high eight pass breakups. He also was the MAC Special Teams Player of the Week after blocking two punts against Misericordia.

Senior Brandon McManus (North Penn) helped Temple to a record-setting 63-32 win at Army on Saturday, and for his performance he was named Honorable Mention Specialist of the Week for the ninth time this season. With his fourth PAT in the second quarter, McManus became Temple’s career scoring leader, surpassing former RB Bernard Pierce who finished with 324 career points. He finished the game with a school record nine PAT made and a school record nine PAT attempts on the day and now has 330 career points. He is also Temple’s career leader in field goals made (58), field goal attempts (81), and punting average (45.4). In 10 games, McManus is 30-of-31 in PAT and 12-of-15 in field goals. He is second in team scoring with 66 points. His kickoffs average 63.6 yards. McManus leads the BIG EAST Conference in punting (45.2). In NCAA stats, McManus is No. 8 in punting (45.16) and No. 45 in field goals (1.20).

Senior Shaun Moore (North Penn) teamed up with Brian Clarke to record a sack in Bloomsburg’s 58-20 loss to Shippensburg in the first round of the NCAA Division III playoffs on Saturday. Saturday’s game was the final game for Moore, Ryan Dickerson (Souderton) andDylan Manni (Bensalem).

Delaware Valley junior wide receiver Lewis Vincent (Bensalem) earned second team all-MAC recognition. A first time all-MAC selection, Vincent caught 31 passes for 640 yards (20.6 average) and four touchdowns, including a 201-yard, two-score effort in a conference win over Albright.

Kevin Morton (Abington) completed 22-of-35 passes for 224 yards and two touchdowns in Kutztown’s 14-12 win over LIU Post on Saturday. Jason Ulmer (Neshaminy) led the defense with 16 tackles.

Wisconsin-Platteville junior linebacker Dave Daino (Neshaminy) earned second team All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors.

Lebanon Valley left guard Brendan Kozub (Council Rock North) earned honorable mention all-MAC recognition. The junior offensive lineman started every game as a junior. He is the only Dutchman to start all 10 games. Kozub has 22 starts in three seasons at left guard.

West Chester offensive linemen Blair Gower (Neshaminy) and Trey Farmer (North Penn) earned second team All-PSAC East honors. West Chester’s offensive line allowed just 12 sacks and helped the Rams’ offense ring up over 4,700 yards of total offense. Rich Bruno (Council Rock South) was second team punter. Bruno averaged 36.6 yards per punt and put 10 inside the opponent’s 20-yard line.

MEN’S SOCCER
Bloomsburg forward Fran Miller (Central Bucks East) was named to the All-PSAC second team. The CB East alum led the Huskies in scoring this season with a career high 10 goals in 16 games played. He was named the PSAC Athlete of the Week for his three goals and pair of assists in the final week of the regular season. Miller also tallied four assists, good for second on the team, and moved into ninth on the BU all-time assists list with 12. He had three multi-goal games including a two-goal, two-assist performance in Bloomsburg’s 5-1 win over Chestnut Hill. “Fran is a true PSAC player,” coach Paul Payne said. “His intensity and desire to win drives him in every training session and match. His work rate on the field put him in positions to score, and he did just that in 2011. He also played a vital role in setting up his teammates to finish and was a true impact player this year.”

WOMEN’S SOCCER
York College junior defender Dale Mason (Neshaminy) earned second team All-Capital Athletic Conference honors. It was her first All-CAC recognition.

Jen Hutchinson (Neshaminy) scored on a header with four minutes remaining to propel West Chester to a 1-0 win over Slippery Rock in Friday’s Atlantic Regional title game of the NCAA Division II Tournament. It was Hutchinson’s seventh goal of the season and helped second-seeded West Chester avenge a 1-0 loss to Slippery Rock in the quarterfinals of the conference tournament. It is the third Atlantic Region title in school history. In Sunday’s NCAA Division II quarterfinal round, Carly Yost (North Penn) contributed an assist in West Chester’s 4-1 loss to the College of Saint Rose.

MEN’S SWIMMING
Sophomore TJ Guminski (Hatboro-Horsham) finished first in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:04.50 in Lycoming’s 105-100 win over Misericordia on Wednesday.

Freshman Ozzie Moyer (Souderton) finished fifth on the three-meter board with a score of 326.10 in the University of North Carolina's 168-132 win over the University of South Carolina on Tuesday.

La Salle senior Daniel Fitzgerald (Upper Dublin) took first in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 50.47 on day two at the Bucknell Invitational on Saturday.  On the three-meter board, freshman CJ Gimpel (Central Bucks South) notched a sixth place finish with a score of 280.60. The Explorers found themselves in fourth place after the second day. On Friday, Fitzgerald and Dave Derr (Upper Dublin) were part of the Explorers’ fourth place 200 freestyle relay that posted a time of 1:24.08. Fitzgerald finished third in the ‘B’ final of the 50 free, posting a time of 21.44. Gimpel placed third on the 1-meter board with a score of 274.10.

West Chester’s Calvin Starosta (Upper Dublin) won the 100 backstroke with a time of 50.59 at the Frank Elm Invitational on Saturday, breaking the invitational’s previous record. He also led off the 200 medley relay that took first place. On Friday, Starosta was a member of the first place 200 free relay that posted a time of 1:23.24. He also was a member of the winning 400 medley relay that posted a time of 3:23.16.

Senior tri-captain Jeremy Frey (Central Bucks East) won the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:03.92 in Bloomsburg’s 135-115 win over Dickinson College on Sunday.

WOMEN’S SWIMMING
Shippensburg freshman Carolyn Meier (Upper Dublin) satisfied the PSAC qualifying standard in the 50-yard freestyle on Thursday during the first day of the 2012 Patriot Invitational, posting a time of 24.92. Meier was part of the 200-yard freestyle relay that finished fourth with a time of 1:36.85. Junior Colleen Stiles (North Penn) also surpassed the conference standard in the 500 free with a time of 5:19.60.  Senior Alayna Ryan (Abington) also posted a PSAC qualifying time in the 500 (5:19.60). On Friday, Meier was part of the 800 free relay that finished fourth and posted a time of 7:43.95 for another NCAA ‘B’ cut.  Meier also swam a PSAC qualifying time of 1:56.03 in the 200 freestyle. On Saturday, Stiles earned a PSAC cut time in the 200-yard backstroke (2:10.73). Meier earned a PSAC cut in the 100 free with a 53.80 to finish 19th. Stiles (18:16.78) and Ryan (18:17.36) earned PSAC cuts in the 1650-yard freestyle.

Senior Megan Lafferty (Upper Dublin) finished first in the 100 butterfly with a time of 55.66 in No. 13 Arizona’s win over Boise State on Saturday. She also was part of the winning 200 medley relay that posted a time of 1:42.62. In last Saturday’s 157-141 loss to UCLA, Lafferty won the 100 butterfly with a time of 54.30. She also was part of the winning 200 medley relay that posted a time of 1:41.39. Lafferty, an All-American, transferred to the University of Arizona after Maryland cut its swimming program.

Freshman Alex Wheatley (Upper Dublin) won two events in Bloomsburg’s 153-91 win over Dickinson College on Sunday. She won the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:00.91 and the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:16.48.

Sophomore Chelsea Kozior (Council Rock South) finished second in the 100 free with a time of 56.69 in Ursinus College’s 147-115 loss to Gettysburg on Saturday.

Paige Whitmire (Souderton) was part of Penn State’s first place 400 medley relay that posted a time of 3:39.82 on Friday in a tri-meet against Indiana and Virginia. On Saturday, Whitmire was part of the winning 200 medley relay that posted a time of 1:41.62. She also had a second place showing in the 50 free with a time of 22.99, her second fastest time of the year. She was part of Penn State’s second place 400 free relay that posted a time of 3:22.74. Penn State defeated Indiana (207.5-144.5) but fell to Virginia (210-141).

Amanda Thomas (William Tennent) was part of Millersville’s third place 400-yard freestyle relay team that posted a time of 3:36.48 at the Highlander Invitational on Saturday. The time topped the old school record of 3:38.88 by more than two full seconds. Thomas notched a personal best in the 100 free (55.00). In the 200-yard backstroke, Bridget Dooling (William Tennent) posted a personal best of 2:22.15. Millersville finished third overall out of six teams in the three-day event. On Friday, senior Ashley Kichline (Souderton) set a school record in the 100-yard breaststroke, posting a PSAC qualifying time of 59.72 to top the previous record of 1:00.16 set in 2006. She placed fourth in the event. Thomas placed eighth in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:02.08. On Thursday, Thomas was part of the 200 free relay with a school record of 1:38.43.

Jess Healy (Hatboro-Horsham) was part of West Chester’s 400 medley relay team that placed sixth at the Frank Elm Invitational on Friday, posting a time of 3:56.38. Kelsey Tennett (Hatboro-Horsham) placed 11th overall in the 3-meter springboard competition with 216.5 points.

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Moravian junior middle blocker Brittany O’Hara (Pennridge) was named to the Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll.

WRESTLING
Penn State junior James Vollrath (Council Rock South) claimed the title at 157 at the 2012 East Stroudsburg Open on Saturday. Vollrath went 4-0 with a pin and a major.

Bloomsburg’s Matt Rappo (Council Rock South) dropped a 4-1 decision at 141 to Lehigh’s #18 ranked Anthony Salupo. The Huskies fell to 21st-ranked Lehigh 18-12 on Saturday.

Shippensburg junior John Lindquist (Neshaminy) dropped a 14-6 major decision to PSAC champion Sam Lombardo at 157 points in Shippensburg’s 34-7 win over Waynesburg on Saturday.
