BOYS BASKETBALL

CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 57, PENNSBURY 44
Point guard Kevin Raymond led a balanced Titan attack with 10 points – which included a 6-for-6 effort from the foul line. He also handed out five assists. Chase Vonder Schmalz added 10 points, which included two three-pointers.
Aamir Williams led the Falcons with 12 points. Shawn Pepper and Mekhi Bryant both added eight points.
The two teams were deadlocked 13-13 at the end of one quarter, and the Titans took a 23-22 lead into halftime. The Titans seized control of the game in the second half, outscoring the Falcons 18-11 in the third quarter and 34-22 in the second half.
While the Falcons fell to 13-6, the Titans improved to 14-6 overall.

HATBORO-HORSHAM 51, UPPER MORELAND 32
The Hatters owned Saturday’s game between the neighboring rivals, opening up a 10-7 lead at the end of one quarter and extending that lead to 27-14 by halftime. The Hatters continued to control play in the third quarter, outscoring the Golden Bears 16-7 on their way to the decisive win.
Senior Mike Brown had another big day for the Hatters, scoring a game-high 23 points, which included 14 points in the first half. Chris Hobbs scored 11 points while Zach Quattro added eight points and Ryan Kelly, seven points.
For the Golden Bears Matt Kohn scored 10 points, Kevin McFall, seven points, and James Martin, six points.
The Hatters improved to 15-5 overall while the Golden Bears fell to 10-10.

ABINGTON 71, SPRING-FORD 49
The Ghosts led 16-12 at the end of one quarter and extended that to 30-21 by halftime. If there was any doubt about the outcome, those doubts were put to rest in a third quarter that saw the Ghosts go on a 22-6 tear.
“We came out of the half and just really played well,” coach Charles Grasty said. “We jumped on them, played team ball. We threw some traps at them, pressed them and turned them over a little bit, and we got some easy baskets in transition.”
Anthony Durham had a big day for the Ghosts, contributing 23 points, seven assists, six rebounds and three steals. Jordan Simmons added 20 points and four steals in a standout effort. Jiere Morrisey contributed 10 points and six rebounds.
With the win, the Ghosts upped their record to 16-4 overall while the Rams fell to 13-8.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

PENNSBURY 45, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 28
Sajanna Bethea had another big game for the Falcons, posting a double-double with 18 points and 14 rebounds. Carly Kovin added six points and 11 rebounds while Taylor Ferguson had six points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals.
The story of the game was the Falcons’ defense.
“We played good, aggressive man-to-man,” coach Donna Nicholson said. “It was a total team effort.”
The win gave the Falcons the edge in the battle for third place in the National Conference standings. Pennsbury upped its league mark to 8-4 (12-8 overall) while the Golden Hawks fell to 7-5 in league play (11-8 overall).

HATBORO-HORSHAM 39, UPPER MORELAND 35
The Hatters brought an abrupt end to a 13-game losing streak with Saturday’s win over their neighboring rival. The Hatters took control of the game early, opening up an 11-6 lead at the end of one quarter and extending that to 23-12 by halftime. The Golden Bears outscored the Hatters 23-16 in the second half but never could dig their way out of their first half hole.
Heather Lutz led a balanced Hatter attack with eight points while Emilee Fox added seven. Rachel Helton, Amanda Brett and Cassidy Quattro each contributed six points. For the Golden Bears, Karli Lynch led the way with 12 points while Megan Penecale added 11. Lindsey Walder and Colleen Ward both added five points.
While the Golden Bears fell to 2-18, the Hatters upped their record to 3-16.

SOUDERTON 69, PENNRIDGE 36
The Indians sprinted to a 21-9 lead at the end of one quarter only to watch the Rams answer with a 17-12 second quarter to make it a 33-26 game at halftime. The Indians came out of halftime with a vengeance, blowing the game wide open with a 25-2 tear to go on top 58-28.
Allison Gallagher led the Indians with 19 points while Bianca Picard added 11 points, nine assists and six rebounds. Libby Wetzler had 10 points and eight rebounds. Sophomore Sarah Derstein added nine points, 13 rebounds, three assists and two blocks. Hannah Bergey also scored nine points.
The Indians improved to 9-3 in league play (13-6 overall) while the Rams fell to 2-10 in the league (3-16 overall).

PLYMOUTH WHITEMARSH 49, CHICHESTER 33
In the make-up consolation game from the PW Lady Colonials Holiday Classic, the Colonials earned a decisive win. Alynna Williams led a balanced attack with 14 points, four rebounds, two assists and three steals and earned a spot on the all-tournament team. Kayla Wisniewski added 12 points, Rachel Konowal, nine points and Maya Thomas, eight points.
The Colonials led 10-6 at the end of one quarter and took a 17-14 lead into halftime. They put some distance between themselves and their opponent with a 14-8 third quarter to go on top 31-22 on their way to the win.
After starting the season 3-8, the Colonials have found their stride, compiling a 7-2 record over the last three weeks to even their record at 10-10.

BENSALEM 46, MASTERY CHARTER 29
The Owls closed out a tough week with a no-doubt-about-it non-league win. Tyra Roberts had a huge game for the Owls, scoring a game-high 22 points. Stephanie Unger added 12 points and Ashida Cooper, seven points.
The Owls led 12-5 at the end of one quarter and took a 24-12 lead into halftime. They outscored Mastery 13-5 in the third quarter to go on top 37-17 on their way to the big win.
“We used a strong defense and patience on offense,” coach Don Bogan said. “It was a nice way to end the week.”
The win capped a week that saw the Owls fall to Council Rock South 60-26 in a game that Roberts did not play in as well as a loss to Council Rock North (63-24).
With the win, the Owls upped their record to 8-12.

CHRISTOPHER DOCK 38, SPRINGFIELD (MONTCO) 36
The Spartans lost a heartbreaker on Saturday. They outscored the Pioneers 7-4 in both the first and second quarters to go into halftime with a 14-8 lead. The Pioneers outscored the Spartans 13-6 in the third quarter to go on top 21-20 and then edged the Spartans 17-16 in the fourth quarter to earn the win.
Maisey Bradley led the Spartans with 14 points while Meghan Wheatley added 10 points and Veronica Asman, seven points.
The Spartans fell 2-17.

QUAKERTOWN 31, EXETER 30
Senior Kathryne Vetter connected on one-of-two foul shots with four seconds remaining to give the Panthers the dramatic win. The Panthers held Exeter's top two leading scorers - both of whom were averaging 10 points a game - to just six points combined. Vetter and Ashlee Ruzicka both scored eight points while Taylor Herd scored six points. The Panthers are 5-15 overall.
