GIRLS
CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 16, EMMAUS 5
The Patriots jumped out to an 11-2 halftime lead on their way to the decisive win. It was a dramatically different outcome than last year’s 10-9 overtime win over this same Emmaus squad.
“It was a really nice start,” coach Dipi Bhaya said. “The passing was pretty good.
“We actually set goals, and we achieved them. We were pleased to see their hard work pay off.”
Julia Norek, Mary Kate Schwartz and Marissa Glatt each turned in five-point efforts to lead the Patriots. Norek had a team high four goals and one assist while Schwartz and Glatt both contributed three goals and two assists. Kat Miller and Alex Law each added two goals, and Kelsey Washburn and Nicole Difini (one assist) both had one goal.
East goalie Alana Rivas was credited with 14 saves.
NORTH PENN 15, RIDLEY 3
The Maidens used a balanced scoring effort in Saturday’s non-league win over the Green Raiders, opening up a 9-1 halftime lead and rolling to the decisive win.
Lauren Green led the Maidens with three goals and two assists, and Kaitlin Suzuki also had the hat trick and one assist. Hannah Young chipped in two goals and an assist, and Jules Hill had two goals. Jen DeLongis contributed one goal and two assists, and adding single goals were Brittany Tyson, Chloe Novak, Sydney Lear and Emily Shulze.
Senior Jenna Stover was credited with 12 saves in goal.
BOYS
CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 15, ALLENTOWN CENTRAL CATHOLIC
Matt Milici had a huge game for the Patriots, contributing six goals and four assists. Matt Schmidt added the hat trick and one assist, and Matt Brown and Zach Kane each had a four-point game with both players contributing two goals and two assists. Cole Rushworth added one goal and one assist, and Geoff Kuhn had one goal.
Cole Rushworth won 21 of 24 face-offs, and defensively, Matt Schmidt, Richard Hartung and Cole Rushworth led the way, collecting four ground balls each. Tyler Butler, Matt mlici, Pete Donovan, Ben Rowles and Dustin Buchanan each had three ground balls.
The Patriots opened up a 4-1 lead at the end of one quarter and outscored ACC 4-3 in the second quarter to take a four-goal lead into halftime (8-4). The Patriots took a 12-7 lead into the final quarter and outscored ACC 3-2 in the final frame to earn the big win.
Sean McSherry (four saves) and Sean McGovern combined for five saves in goal.
