Diana LaPalombara – St. Francis University (Softball)

Major:  Pre-med

Final list of colleges:  St. Francis, Lehigh

Reasons for choosing St. Francis:  “It’s a very homey school. As soon as I got on the campus, I felt like I was at home. It was almost like walking in Neshaminy. I felt awesome there. Everyone was so nice. They acted as if I belonged there. There were a lot of brand new facilities, and what they had to offer me – I couldn’t pass up.”

What was the progression that led you to playing collegiate softball?  “Before last year, I had no thoughts of playing collegiate softball. I was going to stop playing softball altogether before last year. Then I switched travel teams, and my coach and the girls on my team influenced me to play. I saw I was good enough for that league, and I had the determination to work with those people.”

Coach Dave Chichiletti says:  “Diana is going to offer a lot to St. Francis with her versatility in addition to being what I consider one of the best outfielders that I’ve ever coached. She’s playing shortstop for us this year and is an excellent infielder as well. Her speed is obviously her strength. She has elite speed, and there’s nothing that she can’t do with her feet, and that will be an instant addition to the university. The small ball standpoint is one part of her game, but she can hit for power as well. Diana also is an excellent student, and there’s no doubt she’ll be successful there.”
