NESHAMINY 3, COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 0 (25-11, 26-24, 25-19)
The Redskins came up with a huge National Conference win on Monday, knocking off Council Rock North to remain undefeated in conference play.
“Our guys came out really fired up in game one,” Neshaminy coach Kevin Roode said. “Game one was an anomaly. After game one, it was anyone’s match.
“We kind of caught them off guard in game one.”
Ryan Jamison led the Redskins with 14 kills, three aces, three blocks and 16 digs. Zach McGowan had nine kills and four blocks. Scot Blickle added seven kills and three blocks, and Steve Stressman had four kills and three blocks. Steve Compton had six blocks. Wes Roy had nine digs, and Chase Fullen had 34 assists and three blocks.
The key to the match, according to Roode, was the Redskins’ aggressive service game.
“I think that gave them a hard time trying to get their offense going,” the Redskins’ coach said. “We missed a lot of serves, but we were intentionally serving them really aggressively to try to disrupt their offense a little bit.
“In game one, it worked better than in games two and three. In games two and three, I think they were used to it. We blocked really well, and our serving contributed to that too. If you can’t get a perfect pass – our blockers can read where the setter is going to go better than if it’s a perfect pass. Our serving actually contributed to our blocking.”
While the Indians fell to 3-2 in the league, the Redskins improved to 4-0 in the league (5-0 overall).
“This was huge,” Roode said. “We’re 5-0, and we have played some really good teams, but I think Rock North is probably the most complete team that we’ve played yet, so it was great to come out and play our best game against them.”
CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 3, CHELTENHAM 0 (25-9, 25-15, 25-9)
Christian Rupert led the Bucks with 14 kills, two aces and two blocks. Teammates Joel Klapper (eight kills, four aces) and Mike Fehrs (seven kills, six digs) also made important contributions. Setter Matt Hennigan had 30 assists to go along with two aces.
The Bucks upped their record to 5-1 while the Panthers fell to 0-4 in the league (1-4 overall).
CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 3, UPPER DUBLIN 0 (25-14, 25-20, 25-16)
The Patriots were led by the performance at the net of Nick Bennett, who finished with 10 kills and four solo blocks. Steve Caucci also was a force at the net with four kills. Setter Kyle Dolf was credited with 15 assists to go along with three kills, and Trevor Clemens had six assists and two kills. Leading the way defensively for East was Mike Donovan with six digs.
The Patriots are 2-3 in league play (3-3 overall), and the Flying Cardinals are 1-4 in the league (2-4 overall).
EMMAUS 3, SOUDERTON 1 (25-15, 25-19, 18-25, 25-19)
Tim Jones led the Indians at the net with 18 kills and also had a big night defensively, contributing eight digs. Alex Androkites had six kills, and Ryan Davison had five kills and three blocks. Micah Godshall added five kills, and Vince Kowalick had eight digs. The Indians are 4-2 overall.
WILLIAM TENNENT 3, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 1
Nick Gross had 22 kills to lead the Panthers’ attack. He also led the way defensively, contributing 15 digs. Brian Ebert had eight kills, and Jake Milnazik, seven kills. Setter Dillon Cooney finished the night with 42 assists.
The Panthers are 2-3 while the Golden Hawks fell to 1-3 in the league (2-5 overall).
PENNRIDGE 3, QUAKERTOWN 0 (25-19, 25-13, 25-14)
The Rams remain perfect on the season in the SOL. Christian Lizana led Pennridge at the net with 13 kills to go along with five digs. Evan Jacoby added seven kills, and Devon Rice had five kills and five aces. Kolby Smith led the defense with nine digs to go along with four aces.
For the Panthers, Mike Whittington (10 kills, six digs, two aces) and Dylan Flor (six kills, four digs and one block) led the way. Lucas Schan (three kills, two blocks), Josh Morgan (two kills), Alex Palmer (18 assists, one kill, one ace) and Trysten McLaughlin (eight digs) also contributed.
The Rams are 5-0 while the Panthers fell to 0-6.
