BASEBALL
Eric Jarinko (Souderton) has been promoted to Vice President-Assistant General Manager of the Greenville Drive. Jarinko, a 2004 graduate of Clemson University, is in his eighth season with the Drive.
“Eric’s promotion to assistant general manager is well earned as he personifies what the Drive brand stands for,” Drive President and Co-Owner Craig Brown said in a news release announcing Jarinko’s promotion. “Eric has been a crucial member of our front office since the Drive’s inaugural season, and we take great pride in his accomplishments and in addition important responsibilities to his already impressive career with the Drive.”
Last season, Jarinko served as the Drive’s Vice President of Ballpark Experience where he oversaw the organization’s media relations and sponsor services while integrating new methods and techniques to ensure the highest level of customer service for all fans at Fluor Field. Prior to last season, he served as Senior Director of Media and Marketing Services from 2010-11 and Media Relations Director from 2006-09. During that time period, he was named South Atlantic League Media Relations Director of the Year in 2009 and 2010. In addition, Jarinko was named by Greenville Business Magazine as one of their “35 Best Under 35” in 2011. During his time with the Drive, Jarinko has worked side-by-side with the Upstate media outlets to optimize the organization’s exposure while also serving as the Drive’s liaison for all corporate partner relationships including Greenville Health System, BI-LO, Duke Energy and Southwest Airlines.
Matt Dudas (North Penn) has been named the new play-by-play announcer for the Arkansas Travelers, a Double-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels. The North Penn grad will join the Voice of the Travs, Phil Elson, handling play-by-play in the middle innings of home games. He also will join the pre- and post-game shows and assist in media relations duties. Last season, Dudas was part of the broadcast team of the Washington Nationals affiliate Senators in Harrisburg, Pa. Dudas, a long-time fan of Duke’s basketball program, has a relationship with Bob Harris, who broadcasts Duke basketball games. Harris informed Dudas of the opening with the Travs, and he applied for the position. Dudas graduated from Millersville with a broadcasting degree, and he called games there through the end of the basketball season. While in college, he called games for the Mat-Su Miners baseball team in Alaska. Dudas competed in golf during his years at Millersville.
Zach Crim (Hatboro-Horsham) earned the win on the mound in Chestnut Hill’s 3-0 win over Nyack College in game two of a twinbill on Saturday, allowing two hits while fanning seven and walking one. Ray Puskar (Pennridge) led the offense with a 3-for-3 day at the plate that included a double, one run scored and one RBI. Joe Crane (Council Rock South) added a double and two RBIs, and Joe Mullin (Central Bucks South) also had a hit. In Chestnut Hill’s 3-2 win in game one, Crane was 2-for-3 with a run scored and RBI while Mullin and Puskar (double) each had one hit.
Starting pitcher Jake Kohler (Upper Dublin) struck out eight and walked three in eight innings of work in Ursinus College’s 3-2 loss to Dickinson on Saturday. He was not involved in the decision. In Wednesday’ 10-8 loss to Delaware Valley, Kohler finished the day 3-for-3 with a double and four RBIs.
Tyler Coleman (Quakertown) had an RBI triple in West Chester’s 16-5 loss to Wilmington (Del.) University in the first round of the Bill Giles Classic on Wednesday.
Rookie reliever Jesse Kohler (Upper Dublin) threw four innings of scoreless baseball in Oberlin’s 12-2 win over Kenyon College last Sunday, scattering five hits while fanning two and walking none to improve to 2-0 on the year.
Brandon Martinez (North Penn) singled and scored on a wild pitch in No. 12 Kutztown’s 5-4 loss to Millersville on Sunday.
Junior Jake Ruch (Abington) was the winning pitcher in East Stroudsburg’s 8-2 win over Bloomfield on Thursday, working 5.0 innings and allowing one run on five hits.
Robbie Zinsmeister (North Penn) went 5-for-8 with a double, two triples and four runs scored in IUP’s sweep of Clarion on Saturday. Teammate Dylan Tice (Pennridge) had three hits and drove in four runs in the twinbill. Jared Weed (Council Rock North) threw a scoreless inning in relief in IUP’s 12-2 win in game one. In Wednesday’s sweep of Mansfield, Zinsmeister had three hits, including a solo home run, scored five runs and stole two bases. Tice also had three hits. Weed worked a scoreless seventh in a 9-2 win in game one.
Freshman Dan Callahan (Council Rock South) skied a sacrifice fly to center field in the second inning of La Salle’s 5-3 loss to Penn on Wednesday. It was his first career RBI.
Mike Bradstreet (North Penn) threw his fourth complete game of the season in Rhode Island’s 4-3 win over Fordham on Friday, improving to 5-3 on the season. He walked just one batter while striking out five over nine innings.
Matt Hanson (Central Bucks West) singled and scored a run in Moravian’s 2-1 win over Scranton on Sunday. In Moravian’s 5-1 win over Scranton in the opener of a twinbill Saturday, Hanson was 2-for-2. Hanson is tied for 67th in doubles with 10 in the latest NCAA Division III statistics released April 10. He is tied for 51st in triples with three.
Freshman David Blount (Harry S Truman) had a two-run single in Gwynedd-Mercy’s 10-3 win over Immaculata on Thursday. In Wednesday’s 10-4 loss to Widener, John Burns (Neshaminy) was 2-for-4 with an RBI and run scored. In Gwynedd’s 19-1 rout of Marywood last Sunday, freshman Christopher Hens (Hatboro-Horsham) had a team high five RBIs. Burns drove in three runs.
Tyler Orr (Neshaminy) hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning of Eastern University’s 6-5 loss to Wilkes University on Saturday. In Eastern’s 15-0 win over Valley Forge Christian in game two of a twinbill on Thursday, Orr hit a two-run double. He finished the game with three RBIs. In Wednesday’s 9-0 win over PSU-Brandywine, Orr was 3-for-5 with four RBIs.
Robert Morak (Abington) threw a scoreless inning of relief and teammate Chris Hunter (Pennsbury) worked a scoreless 2/3 inning in Penn State Abington’s 7-0 win over Keuka College.
Tim Filer (Council Rock North) singled and drove in a run in Lebanon Valley’s 5-3 loss to Alvernia in game one of Saturday’s doubleheader. In Lebanon Valley’s 2-1 loss in game two, Filer was a perfect 3-for-3, accounting for three of his team’s seven hits. In Wednesday’s 10-3 win over Susquehanna, Filer and Andrew DeCew (Pennridge) both were 1-for-3. Frankenfield scored one run and DeCew, two.
Drew Frankenfield (Wissahickon) was 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles in York College’s 8-2 win over Frostburg State in game two of a twinbill. Zach Philippi (Harry S Truman) threw the final two innings, allowing one run. In Tuesday’s 6-5 come-from-behind win over Immaculata, Frankenfield tripled and scored the game-winning run. He scored twice in the game and also had an RBI.
Joey Nieves-Markee (Bensalem) tossed a no-hitter in Cairn University’s 14-1 win over Valley Forge Christian College on Tuesday. He faced 20 batters and did not allow a single hit while going the distance to earn his first career win. Valley Forge’s lone run was scored on an error.
Brandon Bell (Norristown) knocked in three runs, including the game-winning tally in the eighth inning of the nightcap, as Delaware Valley split a doubleheader with defending Freedom Conference champion Misericordia University on Saturday. Pete O’Hara (Council Rock North), who was 2-for-4, scored the game winner in Del Val’s 3-2 win in the nightcap. In Del Val’s 6-3 loss in the opening game, Bell and O’Hara each had a hit. In Wednesday’s 10-8 win over Ursinus, Bell was 2-for-5 with a double, one run scored and an RBI. O’Hara was 2-for-6 with two runs and two RBIs.
Senior reliever Eric Ruth (North Penn) threw a scoreless ninth in Winthrop’s 13-4 win over Furman on Wednesday night.
Kristopher Davis (Central Bucks East) earned the win in Elizabethtown’s 4-3 win over Messiah Saturday, allowing just one hit in three scoreless innings.

Wilkes University sophomore Ginny Edwards (Central Bucks South) was named to the 2012-13 Middle Atlantic Conference Winter Honor Roll. The honor roll includes student-athletes of sophomore class standing or higher who participate in a varsity level sport and registered a cumulative GPA of 3.20 (4.00 scale) or higher and completed the playing season in good standing. Edwards is one of eight Wilkes student-athletes to achieve a 4.00 GPA.
WOMEN’S GOLF
Middlebury College sophomore Jordan Glatt (Central Bucks East) shot 81 and 75 to place second individually at the Vassar College Women’s Golf Invitational on Friday and Saturday. The first tournament of the spring season was played at the par 72 Dutchess Golf Club in Poughkeepsie, NY, and included a total of 56 golfers in the field. The Middlebury Women’s Golf Team came in second place out of 11 teams.
MEN’S LACROSSE
Aurora University junior Garret Rosiek (Wissahickon) was selected as the Midwest Lacrosse Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending April 7. The award is the second consecutive for Rosiek. Rosiek, an attackman, led Aurora to a 2-0 week with a 29-2 win over Elmhurst College and a 17-3 win over Mount St. Joseph. In the two games, he tallied 19 points, including a 15-point effort in the win over Elmhurst. In the game, he had three goals and 12 assists. He added a goal and three assists at Mount St. Joseph. On the season, Rosiek leads AU with 65 points and 40 assists to go along with 25 goals and 37 ground balls.
Rosiek had four points (one goal, three assists) in Aurora’s 12-10 win over Concordia University-Wisconsin on Thursday.
Heath Kupecky (Upper Merion) scored a goal in Messiah College’s 15-6 win over Hood College on Wednesday.
Patrick Corcoran (Central Bucks South) scored a goal in Alvernia’s 9-3 win over Hood on Saturday.
Senior Johnny Casey (Abington) had a goal and three assists in No. 18 Widener’s 15-1 win over Lycoming on Saturday. In Wedneday’s 20-2 win over Alvernia, Casey had three goals and two assists. In last Saturday’s 12-4 win over Elizabethtown, Casey had six goals. Widener found itself in the national rankings this week when it was ranked 18th according to the latest United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Top 20 Poll. Casey is sixth in the Commonwealth Conference with 2.8 goals per game, tied for ninth in assists and fifth with 4.1 points per game. He is third with five man-up goals.
Junior Shawn Caven (Pennsbury) finished with a game-high eight ground balls and was 11-for-18 on face offs in Ursinus College’s 10-9 loss to Gettysburg on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 17-5 loss to Washington College, Caven finished with eight ground balls and went 11-for-23 on face offs. Teammate Liam Duke (Upper Dublin) contributed an assist.
Freshman Matt Figueroa (Abington) scored his first career goal with 3:23 to play in Cabrini’s 22-2 win over Marywood on Saturday.
Craig Hunsberger (Pennridge) scored a goal in Elizabethtown’s 7-6 loss to Messiah on Saturday.

Julia Kudla (Souderton) set a new Lake Erie College season high in points on Friday with nine points on one goal and eight assists in Lake Erie’s 19-2 win over Urbana, which gave her 79 points on the season, besting her previous record of 71 points set in 2012.
Sophomore Dani Horn (North Penn) had four goals and an assist in Gwynedd-Mercy’s 14-12 loss to Notre Dame (Md.) on Tuesday.
Lauren McDermott (North Penn) had a pair of goals in La Salle’s 13-10 loss to Saint Joseph’s on Friday.
Jacquelyn Strange (Council Rock North) scored a goal in Alvernia’s 19-5 loss to Stevenson last Saturday.
Freshman Ally Frymoyer (Upper Merion) had 10 saves in Saturday’s 16-4 loss to Bloomsburg. In Tuesday’s 17-12 loss to No. 2 West Chester, Frymoyer had 14 saves for the second consecutive game. Sophomore Garrie Grenfell (North Penn) contributed a goal.
Freshman attacker Carley Kendall (Souderton) scored an unassisted goal in No. 18 Washington College’s 12-11 loss to Dickinson on Saturday. In Wednesday’s 23-0 win over Bryn Mawr, Kendall won a career-best five draw controls. It was Washington College’s first shutout in 10 years.
Senior Jacquie Burke (Pennridge) scored a career-high four goals in West Chester’s 21-4 Senior Day win over Slippery Rock on Saturday.
Kate Schalck (William Tennent) scored a pair of goals and teammate Tori Kimberly (Central Bucks West) had a goal and assist in Penn State Abington’s 23-7 loss to Morrisville State last Sunday.
Kimber Kisselback (Neshaminy) caused a pair of turnovers in Holy Family’s 16-5 loss to Philadelphia University on Saturday.
Maggie Canavan (Springfield) scored three goals while teammate Natalie Draham (Wissahickon) added one goal and one assist in Bloomsburg’s 16-4 win over Shippensburg. Carly Ball (North Penn) had two caused turnovers. Aubrey Bossert (Wissahickon) had three draw controls. In Tuesday’s 14-8 win over Gannon, Canavan had two goals and Ashley Bossert (Wissahickon) had one goal and one assist while Draham had one goal.
Sophomore Hannah Vogel (Hatboro-Horsham) scored a career high seven goals in Millersville’s 21-15 win over East Stroudsburg on Saturday. In the cage, Lauren Mateja (Upper Merion) grabbed her career high seventh win on the year with a seven-save performance. In Tuesday’s 15-11 win over Kutztown, Vogel connected for the hat trick while Mateja had nine stops, one save away from her sixth 10-plus save effort of the season.
Kelly Hamilton (Central Bucks South) connected for the hat trick in No. 8 Lock Haven’s 11-5 win at Gannon on Saturday. Melinda Wojt (Souderton) also had a major impact, leading the defensive effort with four caused turnovers and four ground balls. In Tuesday’s 18-7 win over Edinboro, Hamilton had a pair of goals.
SOFTBALL
Sophomore Liz Parkins (Souderton) improved to 8-0 with a complete game victory in Shippensburg’s 7-1 win over East Stroudsburg on Tuesday. Parkins allowed one run on seven hits while striking out six. She did not walk a batter and has not allowed more than three earned runs in any of her starts this season. Shippensburg is 24-5 overall, 7-1 in the PSAC East.
Freshman Lauren Klepchick (Central Bucks South) doubled and singled in Rhode Island’s 4-3 loss to Charlotte on Friday. It was her second straight two-hit game, and she has a three-game hitting streak during which she is hitting .417 (5-for-12). In Tuesday’s twinbill sweep of Brown, Klepchick doubled twice, singled, scored one run and had one RBI on the day.
Nicole Battaglio (Upper Merion) had a hit and drove in her team’s only run in Penn State Abington’s 9-1 loss to Arcadia on Wednesday. In Tuesday’s 17-5 loss to Franklin & Marshall, Battaglio had a pair of RBIs.
Chelsea Edwards (Hatboro-Horsham) was 3-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored in Lock Haven’s 12-6 win over IUP on Friday.
Danielle DiFilippo (Hatboro-Horsham) had both of her team’s hits, including an RBI single, in Millersville 6-1 loss to Mansfield on Saturday. In Tuesday’s 4-0 loss to West Chester, Gabbie Berrie (Norristown) accounted for two of her team’s three hits. In a 3-0 loss, DiFilippo had one of Millersville’s two hits.
Mary Ward (North Penn) was 4-for-4 with an RBI double in IUP’s 7-2 loss to Kutztown on Saturday. In Friday’s doubleheader sweep at the hands of Kutztown, Ward had a pair of doubles and scored three runs. In IUP’s 9-2 win over Seton Hill on Tuesday, Ward was 3-for-4 with an RBI and three runs scored.
Freshman Haileigh Stocks (Central Bucks South) doubled and scored a run in Robert Morris University’s 3-2 loss to Fairleigh Dickinson last Sunday. The loss snapped an eight-game winning streak for Robert Morris.
Freshman Morgan Decker (Central Bucks South) was 2-for-3 with a double, RBI and run scored in Lehigh’s 5-4 loss to Army in game two of Sunday’s twinbill. In Lehigh’s 3-2 win in game one, Decker also contributed a double. In Saturday’s 6-5 win over Army, Decker was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and one RBI on a solo home run – her fifth of the season. In Lehigh’s 2-1 win on Saturday, Decker was 2-for-3 with a run scored. In Lehigh’s 7-1 win over Fordham in game two of a doubleheader sweep, Decker went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBIs in game two. Her three-run blast in the fifth put Lehigh on top 5-1.
Freshman Maggie Shaffer (Hatboro-Horsham) earned the win on the mound in Guilford’s 6-3 win over Emory and Henry on Saturday, allowing five hits while striking out four and walking four. It was Shaffer’s second complete game in as many days and evened her record at 4-4. In Friday’s 3-2 win over No. 13 Lynchburg, Shaffer earned the complete game win, striking out four and allowing just five hits.
Deanna Dungee (North Penn) earned the win in Alvernia’s 11-2 win over Hood on Saturday. Dungee, who improved to 15-0, surrendered just three hits and two unearned runs through five innings. In Wednesday’s 8-0 win over Eastern, Dungee earned the win, allowing just four hits through five innings.
D’Anna Devine (Pennsbury) was 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored in the University of South Florida’s 8-0 win over Providence on Saturday.
Casey McGill (Upper Merion) contributed two hits and drove in a run in Green Mountain’s 15-2 loss to New England College on Tuesday. In Green Mountain’s 18-2 loss to Husson last Sunday, McGill drove in both of her team’s runs.
Senior Lindsey Iden (Council Rock North) went 3-for-6 with a double in Philadelphia University’s doubleheader sweep at the hands of Kutztown on Wednesday. In Holy Family’s 9-4 loss in game one, sophomore Kelsi Bunda (Pennsbury) had a run-scoring single. Iden went 2-for-3.
Alexandra Schafer (Pennsbury) was 2-for-3 with a solo home run, one run scored and three RBIs in Arcadia’s 9-1 win over Penn State Abington in game one of a doubleheader on Wednesday.
Devon Utterback (Central Bucks South) tossed a two-hitter and allowed just one unearned run but still was forced to absorb the loss in West Chester’s 1-0 loss to Kutztown on Sunday. In Saturday’s 4-3 win over Bloomsburg in game one of a doubleheader sweep, Utterback earned the win on the mound, allowing eight hits while walking one and striking out three. Megan Kelly (Hatboro-Horsham), who had a double and solo home run, and Ali Vavala (Central Bucks East) were both 2-for-3. In West Chester’s 5-4 win in the nightcap, Laura Altenburger (Neshaminy) was 2-for-3. On Tuesday, Utterback threw a pair of shutouts to lead West Chester to a doubleheader sweep of visiting Millersville. She scattered three hits over seven innings in a 4-0 win in game one, walking none and striking out seven. Jess Schuck (Council Rock South) and Kelly both had a pair of hits. Kelly also scored a pair of runs. Utterback, who improved to 12-3 on the season, tossed a four-hit shutout in West Chester’s 3-0 win in game two, striking out five and walking three. Vavala was 3-for-3 with a double to lead the Golden Rams. In West Chester’s 3-0 win over Chowan on Monday in game one of a twinbill, Schuck was 2-for-3 with a double and RBI while Altenburger had a hit and RBI. In West Chester’s 5-4 win, Vavala was 2-for-3 with a run scored, and Altenburger had one hit and two RBIs.
Kelly Hendrickson (William Tennent) earned the win on the mound in Monday’s 13-0 win over Trinity University (DC). Except for a very close play at first base in the top of the fourth inning, she held the Tigers hitless, striking out six. She helped herself offensively with a 3-for-4 performance at the plate, scoring two runs and driving in one run. Ashley Mitchell (Pennsbury) finished 2-for-3.

Junior Tyler Dougherty (Central Bucks South) was part of St. Joseph’s second place 4x100 relay that posted a time of 43.56 at Saturday’s Delaware Outdoor Open. Matthew McGarvey (Central Bucks West) was part of the second place 4x400 relay that recorded a 3:19.71.
West Chester’s Nick Drozd (Central Bucks South) won a pair of events at the WCU Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Drozd won the 400-meter dash in 49.17 seconds while also taking first in the 400 meter hurdles in 55.48.
Sam Brooks (Wissahickon) represented Elizabethtown in the 1500-meter run at the Messiah Invitational on Saturday, posting a time of 4:05.33.
MEN’S INDOOR TRACK & FIELD
Elizabethtown’s Luke Rotenberger (Quakertown) was named to the Middle Atlantic Conference Winter Academic Honor Roll. The academic honor roll is open to student-athletes of sophomore class or higher who finish their respective seasons in good standing and achieve a 3.20 cumulative GPA or higher.
Rotenberger was part of Elizabethtown’s fourth place 4x100 meter relay team that posted a time of 44.73 at Saturday’s Messiah Invitational.

Tiffany Burrows (Quakertown) was part of Messiah College’s 4x100 relay team that finished first with a time of 52.5 at the 35th Annual Messiah College Track & Field Invitational on Saturday. Leah Novak (Souderton) was part of the 4x800 relay that finished first with a time of 10:41.32.
St. Joseph sophomore Kayla Charles (North Penn) finished fifth in the high jump with a season-best 1.52m (4’11 ¾”) at Saturday’s Delaware Outdoor Open.

MEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Stevenson University junior Austin Jacoby (Pennridge) was named to the Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) All East Division Team. He leads the team with 390 kills and a .315 hitting percentage this season. In 71 career games and 254 sets, Jacoby has totaled 942 kills. With 58 more kills, he will become only the second player in school history to reach 1,000.
Jacoby had 17 kills in No. 9 Stevenson’s 3-2 loss to No. 3 UC Santa Cruz in the semifinals of the 2013 CVS Championship.
Cairn University senior Noah Prickett (Pennsbury) was named to the CVC All East Division Team.
