HARRY S TRUMAN 3, PENNSBURY 1
The Tigers pulled out a close win over the Falcons during their Monday afternoon meeting. Teams only scoring three runs may sometimes find themselves in a little trouble, but that wasn’t the case as the Tigers roared their way to a win.
In a game where pitching seemed to be the order of the day, Shane Monahan outdueled Falcon ace Brandon Garrett and earned the win in this one.
When asked about the performance of his starting pitcher, Truman coach Jeff Vitale was well pleased.
“It was another great pitching performance by Shane, and with Pennsbury being 3-1 in the conference he stepped up and did a great job today,” the Tigers’ coach said. “Pennsbury threw Garrett today, and I think winning was a confidence booster for us because he is one of the best pitchers in the league.”
Scott Jensen was a huge contributor for the Tigers, going 2-for-3 from the plate with a double and RBI. Gage Marshall also went 2-for-3 from the plate in this one for the Tigers.
Brendan Campbell, who had a pair of doubles, and Justin Jacko both came through for the Falcons, going a combined 4-7, but in the end it just wasn’t enough to get them over the top.
Monahan allowed seven hits in a winning effort.
The Tigers are 2-2 in the league (4-3 overall) while the Falcons fell to 3-2 in league play (5-2 overall).

BENSALEM 6, COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 5
Cody Gross was 3-for-3 to lead the Owls’ offensive attack in Monday’s win. For Rock North, Max German was 4-for-4 with a double and RBI. Zach Schram was 3-for-4 with a home run in the bottom of the seventh inning that saw the Indians plate three runs to make it a one-run game. The Indians collected 12 hits in the loss.
While the Indians fell to 3-2 in the league (4-3 overall), the Owls improved to 2-2 in league play.
NESHAMINY 2, COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 0
The Redskins had a tough go at it Monday afternoon in their game against the Golden Hawks, collecting just three hits. The Golden Hawks had an even tougher time trying to do anything as they didn’t score a single run and lost 2-0.
Rock North starting pitcher Ryan Fleming was crazy good on the mound and at the plate. The only problem for Fleming – who struck out nine - was that Neshaminy starting pitcher Justin Andrews was crazy good and then some on the mound and at the plate. Not only did Andrews, who picked up the win in this one, keep the Golden Hawks off of the board, but he also was the only person in the game to have an RBI, which came in the bottom of the third when he hit a triple. He would score later on in the inning on a wild pitch for the 2-0 final.
The Golden Golden Hawks had trouble throughout the game when it came to the dish but did create opportunities for themselves in the fifth and sixth innings, but they just weren’t able to come up with any big hits to get the job done.
Andrews allowed just five hits in the shutout.
The Redskins upped their record to 4-1 in the league (7-1 overall) while the Golden Hawks fell to 2-2 in league play (4-3 overall).

NORTH PENN 2, HATBORO-HORSHAM 1
In a game that only saw a total of the three runs scored due to dominating pitching, the Knights were able to defeat the Hatters 2-1. Hatboro starting pitcher Ryan Kelly allowed only one run in five strong innings, but the Hatters would still take the loss due to great pitching by Knights starter Bryce Mengel and some timely hitting late in the game.
The Hatters, who mustered up only one run off of five hits, scored their only run in the second inning when Eric Thomas drove in Eric Lane with an RBI single. That knotted the score 1-1 since the Knights got on the board in the first when Chris Kersey scored on an Ed Posavec single.
After the Hatters tied the game in the second, the pitchers took over, and both sides had a tough go of it at the plate, but that would all change in the bottom of the sixth when Posavec scored the game-winning run on an RBI single by Brady West.
The Hatters weren’t able to respond in the top of the seventh, falling by one.
Zach Prendergast, who relieved Kelly in the sixth, would take the loss in this one as he came into the game late and give up the run that would ultimately win it for the Knights in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Although the Knights only scored two runs, starting pitcher Bryce Mengel did his thing on the mound, allowing just one run in the second. He held down the fort the rest of the way to help the Knights pull out a close one.
Prendergast led the Hatters with a pair of hits out of the leadoff spot. Posavec and West both had two hits to lead the Knights.
The Knights are 3-2 in conference play (3-3 overall) while the Hatters fell to 2-3 in the league (4-4 overall)

PENNRIDGE 6, SOUDERTON 3
In a game that saw both teams put up three runs in their half of the first inning, you’d probably have thought the two squads would go back and forth throughout the whole game, but that was not the case.
The Indians put three runs on the board in the top of the first inning off starter Evan Myers, although none of those runs were earned off. In the inning, starting pitcher Dan O’ Hara, Bradley Stoltzfus, and Andrew Kriebel were all able to drive in runs whether it was by hit or walk, and the Indians looked as if the day would be an easy one for them, but the Rams had a little something else in mind.
In the bottom of the first inning, the Rams responded by putting three runs of their own on the board off of O’Hara. They added single runs in the second and third to go on top 5-3 before adding an insurance run in the sixth.
Myers went all seven innings, allowing nine hits and three runs (none earned) while walking two and striking out six. After a shaky first, the Rams’ defense pulled it together and did not give up a single run the rest of the game.
Jake Gordon came through big for the Rams with three RBIs, which came on a double and a sacrifice fly. A.J. Molettiere also chipped in with an RBI with the other two runs coming by way of errors.
“We took advantage of some base on balls and got some timely hits,” coach Tom Nuneviller said when talking about his offense, and that was indeed enough to win the game.
Dan Shane led the Rams with two hits while Brian Gibbs and Wenger each had two hits to lead the Indians.
The Rams improved to 3-2 in league play (5-2 overall) while the Indians fell to 2-3 in the league (4-4 overall).
