WILLIAM TENNENT 4, HARRY S TRUMAN 1
The Panthers entered the week with an 0-3 record in conference play, but thanks to three big wins during an impressive week, the Panthers have evened their conference mark at 3-3.
Bill Shannon made the Tigers the Panthers’ latest victim, allowing just three hits and no earned runs in seven standout innings on the mound. Shannon walked two and fanned four.
The Panthers scored two runs in the fourth and single runs in the fifth and sixth before the Tigers plated an unearned run in the top of the seventh.
Mike Wasserleiben drove in a pair of runs. Teammates Brandon DiBona and Ben Zeitz both had two hits – including a double - to lead the Panthers. Zeitz scored one run and DiBona scored twice. Ryan DeLong and Shannon each contributed an RBI.
Both teams are 3-3 in league play. Tennent is 3-6 overall, and the Tigers are 5-4 overall.

They added a single run in the third and sealed the Falcons' fate with a four-run uprising in the fifth.

COUNCIL ROCK SOUTH 6, COUNCIL ROCK NORTH 4 (8 innings) (Thursday, April 18)
The Golden Hawks spotted the Indians a 4-0 lead after a four-run second, but after that rough start, Rock South pitcher Greg Paprocki found his groove, going five innings without giving up a hit and allowing the Golden Hawks to battle back.
The Hawks began their comeback by plating a run in the third inning on an RBI single by Will Faccenda. In the fifth, the Golden Hawks put up a three spot to knot the score. The rally was capped by senior Ryan Fleming’s sacrifice fly.
Neither team scored again until the eighth when the Golden Hawks pushed across the game winner on an RBI double by senior Pete DeLuca. Jake Nevin’s RBI single gave the Hawks a two-run cushion.
In the bottom of the eighth, Paprocki finished what he started, allowing his first hit since the second inning before retiring the side to propel the Hawks to the big win.
Faccenda and Nevin led the Golden Hawks with 2-for-4 efforts at the plate.
The Golden Hawks are 3-3 in league play (3-5 overall) while the Indians are 4-2 in the league (5-3 overall).

ABINGTON 4, HARRY S TRUMAN 3 (Thursday, April 18)
The Ghosts rode the momentum of their win over Council Rock South one day earlier to eke out a win over the Tigers on Thursday. Making the win especially impressive was the fact that the Tigers – thanks to a pair of first inning runs and a single run in the third – opened up a 3-0 lead before the Ghosts rallied for the win by plating one in the third, two in the sixth and one more in the fourth.
Nick Bein and Trey Guaglionoia each had a pair of hits to lead the Ghosts. Bein had two RBIs and Guaglionoia added one. Sean Gallagher had double, RBI and run scored.
Truman’s Devon McDermott (triple) and Shana Monahan (home run) accounted for the game’s only extra base hits.
Matt McDonough worked six strong innings, allowing six hits and three runs (two earned) while walking three and striking out two. Eric Tidwell threw a scoreless seventh to earn the win, striking out a pair.

Continental Conference

CENTRAL BUCKS EAST 10, CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 3
The Patriots wrapped up their first go-round in conference play with an impressive win over the Titans to maintain their stronghold on the conference’s top spot. As a result of Friday’s win, the Patriots have a two-game lead over the second place Titans.
“They’re really playing well,” coach Kyle Dennis said. “We’ve been pitching really well, we’ve been picking the ball up really well.
“I knew (coming in) we’d have pitching - I knew we returned everybody, and I knew we would pitch very well. The question for me was would our first-year varsity guys step up to the plate defensively and step up to the plate offensively, and they flat out have.”
One of the team’s biggest surprises has been the performance of an inexperienced infield. That infield includes three first-year varsity starters in sophomore Carter Usowski at third, sophomore David Yanni at short and junior Pat Reilly at second base.
“They’ve been phenomenal,” Dennis said. “We’re making the routine plays, and our pitchers are just throwing strikes and really doing a great job.”
Every batter in East’s lineup had a hit in Friday’s 16-hit barrage. Yanni and Ben Hauser led the way with three hits each. Yanni scored three runs, and Hauser had an RBI and scored two runs. Vince Careghini (home run, 2 RBIs, one run scored), Mike Casbar (RBI), Sean Usowski (double, 2 RBIs, 2 runs scored), Reilly (2 RBIs, one run scored) and Brandon Birkhead each added a pair of hits.
“We’ve been very fortunate in some games where – if the top of our lineup is not getting the job done – the bottom of our lineup is,” Dennis said. “Pretty much every game this season, we’ve been very fortunate in that respect.
“(CB South’s) Bobby Wittemann is a phenomenal pitcher. We had never seen him last year because we were struggling, and I think we were able to capitalize on some mistakes he made.  He usually paints corners really well. He left a couple pitches over the plate, and our guys had a great approach and hit him.”
Blair Killough earned the win on the mound for the Patriots, who improved to 7-0 in the league (9-1 overall). The Titans are 5-2 in league play (6-3 overall).

PENNRIDGE 4, NORTH PENN 0
Evan Myers tossed a gem on the mound, facing just 24 batters and scattering five hits while striking out four and walking one in Friday’s shutout win.
“He pitched extremely well,” coach Tom Nuneviller said. “He was just very focused today. He came out very determined from the first pitch of the game.
“He went after North Penn. They were aggressive and swung the bats and got a couple of hits. We caught some breaks. They hit one hard to lead off an inning down the left field line and tried to stretch it into a double, and AJ Molettiere made a great throw to Brad Misialek, and he puts it on the money to Dave Tatoian for a bang-bang play at second. We made some nice defensive plays.
“North Penn made some nice defensive plays. Their shortstop made a diving play in the first inning to stop a couple of runs. It seemed like a playoff atmosphere because it was high intensity. Both teams were playing well. The pitchers were working fast and throwing strikes. It was a fun game, more fun for us because we won, but it was a very good high school game.”
Tyler Shoultes was 2-for-2 with an RBI and a walk to lead the Rams, who won the game with a three-run outburst in the third inning. Misialek, Molettiere and Jake Gordon each added RBIs.
Brady West led the Knights with a pair of hits.
North Penn and Pennridge boast identical 4-3 records in league play. The Knights are 4-4 overall while the Rams are 6-3.
“Every win is extremely important because it’s such a tough league,” Nuneviller said. “Teams are going to beat up on each other, so you can’t give away wins. When you have an opportunity to get one, you have to take full advantage of it.
“Our first two losses in the league we were up on CB South and we were up 1-0 on Hatboro, and we ended up losing late. You can’t get those opportunities back.”

HATBORO-HORSHAM 14, CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 2 (Thursday, April 18)

SOUDERTON 11, QUAKERTOWN 3

American Conference

UPPER MERION 3, UPPER DUBLIN 1
Mike Greenwood was in command on the mound and Jordan Moffett delivered a clutch two-out hit in the fourth inning to propel the Vikings to their first win of the season on Friday.
“They have been working hard for us since we started offseason stuff back in January,” coach Matt Mitchell said. “It’s a real good character bunch, and it was nice to see the fruits of their efforts come to fruition.”
Greenwood scattered seven hits while striking out six and walking three in a winning effort on the mound.
“He pitched a very nice game for us,” Mitchell said. “He’s struggled a little at the plate this year, and it was a little bit of a change for him today. It was the first time he go DH’ed for and wasn’t in the lineup. He’s been hitting in the three or four hole, and I think that helped clear his head a little bit. He pitched real well.”
Stepping into the designated hitter’s role was senior Mike Camasso, who was 1-for-3 with an RBI and run scored.
“He’s one of those guys that has been biding his time,” Mitchell said. “He had an opportunity today and hit the ball hard twice and made the most of it for us. It was nice to see him do something positive.”
The Vikings scored all of their runs in a three-run uprising in the fourth inning. Jordan Moffett, who was 2-for-3, delivered the game’s big blow, a two-out double that plated a pair of runs.
“That was the clutch hit of the game,” Mitchell said. “He was actually picked off in his pervious appearance, so it was kind of redemption for him.”
Brenden Steiner and Hunter Saunders both delivered a hit and scored a run. Connor McGrath accounted for his team’s other hit.
“This is huge,” Mitchell said of the win. “I said to the guys that we had to think of the season as two halves, and today is the start of the second half. We’re 1-0 in our minds starting to move through the league the second time. This was a huge lift.”
The Flying Cardinals were led by the two-hit efforts of Dan Jacobson (double, RBI) and Ray Sitarski. Matt Matricardi added a double.
Both teams are 1-6 in the league (1-9 overall).

UPPER MORELAND 3, WISSAHICKON 2
Two days after winning an extra-inning thriller against Springfield, the Golden Bears once again showed a flare for the dramatic, winning Friday’s contest when junior Kyle Erwin delivered a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh inning. Nick Corbett, who had singled earlier in the inning, scored from third for the game winner.
“We absolutely 100 percent expected this to be a really tough game,” coach Ernie Rehr said. “We were prepared as a team for it to be a tough game.
“For us to come through in two close games back-to-back shows the character of our team.”
Irwin and Corbett led the Golden Bears with 2-for-3 days at the plate.
Junior Eddie Decker went the distance on the mound for the Golden Bears.
“He threw a fantastic game,” Rehr said.
Randy Frankenfield absorbed the loss for the Trojans. Frankenfield and Brian Fischer led the Trojans with two hits each. Fischer had a pair of RBIs.
The Golden Bears are perfect after one go-round in league play (7-0, 10-1 overall). The Trojans are 4-3 in the league (4-4 overall).
