Anthony Bullaro – Kutztown University (Football & Track)
Major: Undecided but possibly Biology
Final list of colleges: Kutztown, Shippensburg, California (Pa.)
Reasons for choosing Kutztown: “Out of all the schools, they actually allowed me to play both sports. The track coach said they’re friendly with football, and at the time, both coaches were recruiting me to play receiver for football and hurdles and sprints for the track team. They said they work well together. They’ll allow me to do track during track season, but when the seasons switch, then I’m just strictly football or just track. Once I found out that they were going to allow me to do both sports, it pretty much shot them to the top of my list.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in sports at the collegiate level? “I started to realize that I was running fast enough times and producing times to run at the college level. For football, my ability to play had schools looking at me. I decided I should try going to the next level to see if it works for me.”
Track coach Tim Cass says: “He’s a fantastic kid. He’s enthusiastic, he listens, and he has great morale and great school morale as well. That’s one of the things that just catapults him to the next level. On the track, he’s fast, he’s strong, and he’s coordinated. He works at it, but his hard work (compliments) his natural talent.”
Assistant track coach Micah Wright says: “He’s a quiet leader. I can always count on him to be there and do what he’s supposed to do, and that makes a world of difference when I can count on my leaders to be there because all I have to do is tell my younger kids to follow and they’ll follow. He’s one of our leaders on the track. He’s incredibly gifted. He’s a good athlete, but aside from that, he leads by example.”
Football coach Galen Snyder says: “He’s got good size, he’s obviously fast, and he’s a good kid. I think he will do very well at the college level. I do believe he’s going to really come into his own when he gets to college because he has a lot of natural ability.”
