Major: Criminal Justice (Pre-law)
Final list of colleges: Bloomsburg, Bucknell
Reasons for choosing Bloomsburg: “I had gone to a wrestling camp, and the coach came up to me and said, ‘How much of a scholarship do you want? I’m going to make you a Huskie by the end of the week.’ That was what made me decide basically. I couldn’t say no to that.”
What was the progression that led you to wrestling at the collegiate level? “Honestly, it was one of those things when you start out as a kid and you say, ‘I can’t wait to do this in college. I’m going to get a Division One scholarship.’ Then it falls in your lap, and you can’t help but take it.”
Coach Joe Rigous says: “Andrew wrestled for me for four years. He has qualified for states twice. This year he was district champ, and he placed second in regionals the last two years. He won what we call leagues now - which was sectionals - twice. He’s an all-around kid. He worked hard. He’s quick, he kept moving all the time, and he’s pretty aggressive. He’s just an all-around good athlete.”
