Upper Dublin Boys' Cross Country Preview

UPPER DUBLIN BOYS’ CROSS COUNTRY PREVIEW

Coach:  Paul Vandegrift, 8 years

Assistant coaches: Matt Dwyer

Last year’s record: 7-1, SOL American second place, District 1 15th place (1st SOL American team)

Notable losses:  Francis Ferruzzi graduated and is now running at LaSalle University, SOL American Champ, District 1 9th place

Key returners:  Steve Williamson 12th, Andy Stewart 11th, Robert Bonasia 12th, Sam O’Connell 12th, and Jai Kim 12th

Others to watch:  Adam Simon 10th  and Drew Ilik 10th

Outlook:  “The boys Cross Country team has been the SOL American bridesmaid for the last four years.  However, with a solid core of returning seniors, a SOL American Conference championship looks like a reasonable and likely outcome.  The team will be competing on their home course at the Upper Dublin district office fields in Maple Glen starting next Wednesday against a perennially strong La Salle team.  Seniors Jae Kim, Steve Williamson, Rob Bonasia, and Sam O’Connell and Junior Andy Stewart should round out our top five. A group of returning sophomores who have worked hard since last year should not be far behind.   A top 10 district performance from this team and a possible State championship berth is not out of the question.”
