Maddie Maher – East Stroudsburg University (Lacrosse)

Major:  Sports Management

Reasons for choosing East Stroudsburg:  “I just played on my first club team over the summer because I didn’t know if I wanted to play lacrosse or not in college. My coach told me that East Stroudsburg and another school were going to be at a tournament. I knew (East Stoudsburg) had sports management as a major, and that’s what I’m looking at.”

What was the progression that led you to playing collegiate lacrosse? “I honestly didn’t know what I wanted to do. I played lacrosse for maybe six years now, and I just felt I would be lost without it. I decided why not give it a try because if I didn’t, I would regret it. I knew club lacrosse would get colleges looking at me.”

Coach Brieann Wolfe says:  “Maddie is just a great athlete and also a wonderful person. She’s always has such a nice smile. I don’t think she was really planning on going to college to play lacrosse. She’s been working out of season, and she’s joined a club team.
“She’s really good at one task. If you tell her to man up on somebody – like the other team’s best player, she’ll stay right with them. She’s just a great runner, and she’s good in the midfield.”

Allison Fugate – Shippensburg University (Lacrosse)

Major: Business/Marketing

Final list of colleges:  Shippensburg, East Stroudsburg, Georgia

Reasons for choosing Shippensburg:  “They have a really good business program, and I liked the coach and her methods as a coach.”

What was the progression that led you to playing collegiate lacrosse?  “I actually started thinking about it my sophomore year. I went to the Final Four championship game that year, and that’s when I knew I wanted to play in college. I knew I wanted to go to Shippensburg last May when I verbally committed.”

Coach Brieann Wolfe says:  “She really amazed me when I first saw her play last year. She has great stick skills. She’s not the fastest person on the field, but she’s very fast with her stick. She has a quick shot – it’s pretty, and it goes in. She plays home, so I’m looking for her to get a lot of goals this year.”

Sam Ryder – Philadelphia University (Lacrosse)

Major:  Analytic Chemistry

Final list of colleges:  Philadelphia University, East Stroudsburg, King’s College, Albright

Reasons for choosing Philadelphia University:  “I would say the location, the coach and just the school in general and the majors that were offered.”

What was the progression that led you to playing collegiate lacrosse?  “It was the last season of lacrosse when I decided to play for a club team over the summer. I just got so dedicated to it, and I realized this is what I want to be doing. I definitely wanted to be part of a team because it makes me work so much harder with everything.”

Coach Brieann Wolfe says:  “She was my unsung hero last year. She would sub in at the center position with Taylor Dachowski. She’s also a great runner and can run the whole field – she has long strides and a really quick shot. She’ll be really exciting to watch this year.”
