SOL SHSHL Player of the Week
This recognition is sponsored by Bergey’s Inc. Athletes are chosen based on nomination of coaches, and the recipient must be a positive presence on the ice and a credit to the game. Consideration also is given to the student-athlete’s standing in the school and community.
Danny Wilson – Senior at Central Bucks West High School
In 14 games so far this season, Wilson, the Bucks' first line center, has contributed eight goals and six assists (14 points). Next year he will be attending Penn State Altoona where he will play club ice hockey. The senior captain is a credit to both his school and his team.
Note from the coach:
“I couldn’t be prouder for Danny Wilson to receive this recognition,” coach Dave Baun said. “I’ve always believed that ‘as go your seniors - so goes your team’ and this has been especially true this season. As one of our team captains, Danny has been crucial to guiding a very young group of players this season. When you have 11 freshmen and sophomores on your team, you really appreciate the kind of solid senior leadership that Danny brings. Whether in practice, meetings or games, Danny leads by example. He knows what needs to be done and he goes out and does it. More importantly, Danny inspires his teammates to do their best. Game after game, Danny is the hardest-working player on the ice, and he keeps a positive attitude that brings out the best in everyone on the team. Danny is a credit to our program and to our school. He is truly a student-athlete in the best sense.”
About Danny:
Best memory playing high school hockey: Scoring a goal in this year’s CB West Thanksgiving Day rivalry game vs. CB East.
Part of the game I enjoy most: Speed, killing penalties and taking face-offs.
How did you get involved in ice hockey? My Dad started me skating at four years old, and then I started playing organized hockey at age five.
My role model is: Major Dick Winters, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division, East Company – because he was a pure leader that never sent a man to do a job that he wouldn’t do himself.
Music on iPod: I have all kinds of music on my iPod, but I mostly listen to the Drop Kick Murphy’s, Meek Mill and the Red Hot Chili Peppers
Favorite food: Pasta, Pasta, Pasta
Favorite class: History
Future plans: Attend Penn State Altoona where I hope to play club hockey.
Four people I’d invite to a dinner party: Major Dick Winters, Mr. Barry McConnell from The Tournament, Herb Brooks, Dane Cook
