Suburban One League Continental Conference
Hatboro-Horsham Hatters 7 – North Penn Knights 1
Hatboro-Horsham won its third straight conference game with a convincing win over the defending PIAA Quad-A state champion Knights.
“I think we learned a lesson in the game we lost to Souderton,” said Hatboro-Horsham head coach Pete Moore. “We got up on them 3-0, but we didn’t add on and they were able to come back and beat us late in the game.
“Today we were able to score those add-on runs, and that can demoralize the other team,” added Moore. “North Penn has a strong program, and for us to be able to score in four of six innings is huge for us.”
The Hatboro-Horsham offense was fueled by Eric Thomas and Alex Kleidon who each drove home a pair of runs, while Brad Humski and Joe Simmons had solo RBI for the winners. Kelidon was 2-for-3 while Simmons was 2-for-4 and scored two runs.
Hatter senior David Brown was the winning pitcher throwing the first five innings and allowing just three hits. Erik Kleidon pitched a scoreless sixth inning, and Eric Lane allowed just an unearned run in the seventh to seal the win.
“David was awesome today,” said Moore. “He pounded the strike zone the entire game and made them put the ball in play. And we played well defensively behind him.”
North Penn was led offensively by Jared Melone’s two-hit effort. Mason Nadeau added a double. The Knights had a rough day in the field with 7 errors.
Hatboro-Horsham improved to 3-2 in the conference while North Penn dropped to a 3-2 conference mark.

Central Bucks East moved into sole possession of first place in the conference with an 11-0 rout over Quakertown under the lights at Memorial Park in a 5-inning mercy-rule contest.
“The players were really excited about playing the game under the lights – it is a special thing that doesn’t happen all that often in high school,” said Central Bucks East head coach Kyle Dennis. “And now we’re back in first place – and that is a nice place to be.”
The Patriots received a complete game effort from Dan Morrin to capture the win. Morrin allowed just one hit in the contest – a single with two outs in the fifth inning. He fanned seven and did not walk a batter.

Cheltenham Panthers 3 – Upper Moreland Golden Bears 0
Cheltenham remained unbeaten and in first place in the conference with a huge win over the defending SOL American Conference champion Bears.
“You still have to consider Upper Moreland as the cream of the crop in this league,” said Cheltenham head coach Frank Decembrino. “You don’t beat them unless you are playing sharp – they won’t beat themselves.
“We got some great pitching – and we did a great of executing both defensively and with timely hitting,” added Decembrino. “It was a great win.”
Cheltenham had a terrific game thrown by Mark Heimann. Heimann threw a complete game shutout allowing just 2 hits with 7 strikeouts.
“Mark has good velocity and throws three pitches for strikes,” said Decembrino. “He throws a decent fast ball – a nice curve ball – and has developed a split change.”
The Panther offense featured key hits by Max Perilstein with 2 hits and an RBI and Kevin Graham with 2 hits and an RBI.
“So far this team has played very well together,” said Decembrino. “We still have a long way to go.”

Plymouth Whitemarsh Colonials 12 – Norristown Eagles 2
Plymouth Whitemarsh remained unbeaten and in first place in the conference with a huge victory over winless Norristown.
“The score of this game was very deceiving – it was a close game,” said Plymouth Whitemarsh head coach Chris Manero. “It was 4-2 going into the last inning and we were able to break it open with an eight-run inning.
“When the game was close, we made some very good defensive plays to stay in the lead,” added Manero. “Will Kane made a strong play in the outfield to start a double play, and (catcher) Brett Highland made a strong throw to throw out a runner at third.”
Zach Metz earned the win for the Colonials while Connor Kissane threw the final 3-plus innings for the save.
The first three hitters in the PW lineup all collected three hits. That trio included Connor Purdy, Matt Cooper, and Matt Nardo.
