Sarah Siegel – Gwynedd Mercy University (Tennis)
Major: Nursing
What was the progression that led you to playing tennis at the collegiate level? “I love tennis, and my great experience at Tennent encouraged me to play at Gwynedd Mercy University. After I got accepted into the nursing program, I talked to my coach, Ms. Leahy, about playing at Gwynedd. Later on, I went to Gwynedd for a tennis evaluation and to meet coach Jim Holt.”
Coach Molly Leahy says: “Sarah is a four-year varsity player, and she was a two-year captain. Sarah, who’s left handed, played in many positions during her four years on the team. She was a doubles specialist, and she really became a pivotal player at fourth doubles. This year especially she was kind of mentoring a partner who was new to varsity, and Sarah and her partner were the determining match for a lot of our victories this past year.
“Sarah had a great desire to always improve every aspect of her game. She worked on physical fitness, she worked on agility, and she practiced a lot. She just had this determination.”

Alison Welsh – Delaware Valley College (Tennis)
Major: Zoology
Reasons for choosing Delaware: “It’s close to home, it has tennis and it has zoology as a major.”
What was the progression that led you to playing tennis at the collegiate level? “I started thinking about playing when my senior season ended. When the school named a coach, I started talking to her and made my decision to play.”
Coach Molly Leahy says: “Alison was a three-year varsity player. She ended her career playing first doubles and really made tremendous improvement her junior and senior year. She was a two-year captain, and she had a real curiosity about the game, and she was always interested in strategy, which made her a great player for doubles. She’s left handed, and Alison used her height and her lefty ability to be a force at the net.”
