“There were so many heroes,” Upper Dublin coach David Koch said. “I would like to acknowledge Jack shooting a 38 and playing their top player even, MRP shooting a 37 and beating his opponent by six shots. We needed each one. David Kim, who struggled early but never gave up and played the last few holes tremendously. Cole Swiger kept us in the match with a 41. Great job Joe Kim who played his opponent to a tie, and Matt Amey finished two shots better than his opponent, and that accounted for the two-shot win.”
Knights Capture Team Title at Pennridge Invitational
CB South’s Evan Bechtel Wins Individual Crown
The North Penn golf team has been living on the edge this season, playing one close match after another. On Monday, the Knights found themselves in yet another nail biter at the Pennridge Continental Conference Invitational, edging Central Bucks East by one shot on the 18-hole event with a 406. East finished with a 407, and Central Bucks South was third with a 412.
In the league match (scores based on the front nine), Pennridge edged North Penn in a tiebreaker after both teams shot a 205. The Rams only loss in the seven-team invitational came at the hands of East (198-205). With the win, the Rams improved to 6-1 in conference play (8-1 overall).
The Knights rebounded to finish strong on the back nine to win the team title. The top five scores for 18 holes were used to determine the team score.
“There were so many different things happening with the league match,” North Penn coach Dave DiValentino said. “We had the lead until the last group came in, and we ended up in a tie and lost by one shot.
“That’s our third match out of four that we’ve played that we’ve lost by one shot. The league is exciting this year because everybody can win on any given day, so it’s going to be really competitive until the end.”
CB South’s Evan Bechtel and North Penn’s Ron Robinson both shot 78 for the day, 
and Bechtel won a playoff, edging Robinson on the second hole to capture the individual crown.
Still, DiValentino had no complaints about the performance of his players.
“As soon as they won the overall, they were ecstatic,” the Knights’ coach said. “To have one of our guys in the playoff for the low score, the team was super excited for Ron. He has been playing great all season.
“Matt Pickford (who shot a 79) has been hot the last couple of matches. He has been key for us, coming in with the low score for the past three matches. Anthony Barton finished up the back nine with a 37 to close out with an 80, and that was a big move too for Anthony.”
CB East’s Tommy Lewis also shot a 79 in the 18-hole invitational.
