SOL cross country teams turned in some impressive performances the first weekend of the season.
SOL Dominates at 10th Annual John Sharp Viking Invitational
The SOL owned 12 of the top 13 spots on the girls side and 13 of the top 15 on the boys side. Pennridge senior Marissa Sheva, Central Bucks East senior Elizabeth Morris and Wissahickon junior – who finished one, two, three - all met the National Silver Standard. On the boys’ side, Central Bucks East’s Jake Brophy not only finished first overall but also met the National Silver Standard. CB East captured the girls team title while CB West won the boys. Abington & Souderton Finish One-Two at Lights Out Invitational
The Ghosts captured first place with a score of 50 at the six-team invitational in Reading, Pa., with Souderton finishing right behind with 55 points. Souderton’s Connor McMenamin (12:19) finished second to Selinsgrove’s Brody Beiler (12:17).
The top five finishers for Abington were Jake Good (12:31), Christian Troemel (13:16), Peter Kondrat (13:19), Alex Beltz (13:27) and Justin Mehler (13:50). Top five finishers for the Indians were McMenamin (12:19), Joe Breen (13:20), Brendan Clarke (13:28), Austin Carlson (13:38) and Mike Boguslaw (13:38).
NORTH PENN 15, LOWER MERION 15
The Maidens opened their season with a non-league win over the visiting Aces. The top North Penn finishers were:
