PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Sterling Limo SOL Player of the Week
Joe Unangst, Pennridge –
The senior running back, who has turned in one big performance after another this season, put his name in the record books, tying a school record with five touchdowns in the Rams’ 35-22 win over Abington. Unangst finished with 257 yards on 28 carries.

Coach Jeff Hollenbach says:  “It’s a really different and unusual situation for a football player because he lost weight in the offseason. He just lost a few pounds getting in better shape and just worked really hard in the offseason. As a little bit lighter football player, he’s a little bit quicker than he was last year. The combination of his quickness and his ability to read a defense in the middle of a play just set him up for a great, great season. He’s putting up some terrific numbers.
“Especially when he gets on the edge - his ability to see a cutback lane and to see the direction he should be going is really remarkable. I give credit to not only his football instincts, but he’s also a basketball and a baseball player. Playing the other sports, playing basketball and being able to see the court and see what people are doing – he just sees things really well. His vision as a running back has just been outstanding. He’s also just an incredibly coachable player. He’s a team guy. He’s not an ego guy at all, but he’s all about Pennridge being successful, and he’s gone a long way to help us do that.”

Sterling Limo Co-Offensive Player of the Week
Dallas Owen, Central Bucks West –
With the Bucks in dire need of a lift, the senior running back delivered, rushing for 231 yards and four touchdowns in his team’s 34-20 win over Council Rock South. The win brought a halt to the Bucks’ three-game losing streak.
Coach Brian Hensel says:  “This game was a must-win for us. We were sliding, and we were grabbing for everything to make sure we could get a foothold and get things going. He was one of those guys who was a major part in helping us turn some things around. Dallas is a hard worker behind the scenes. He does a lot of extra things on his own and isn’t looking for people to look over their shoulder and say, ‘Oh, look what this kid is doing.’ He’s a quiet, hard worker.
“He’s a great kid to have on the team – he gives a tremendous effort, never complains about anything and overall is the kind of kid you’re happy to have in your program. It was not our intention to give him the ball 38 times, but he sure was a helpful part of the process of our offense moving the ball. His numbers speak for themselves.”
Jake Bevin, North Penn – The junior quarterback hit Nyfease West for a 74-yard touchdown to put the Knights on the scoreboard, effectively setting the tone for North Penn’s 42-7 win over Souderton. By halftime, Bevin was 9-for-10 for 173 yards, and the Knights led 28-0. Nevin adds an important dimension to a North Penn offensive attack that is best known for running the ball down team’s throats.
Coach Dick Beck says:  “The first pass he threw I wasn’t too happy with, and I let him know it. I think he kind of took that to heart and really challenged himself. He was 9-for-9 to end the half and then we didn’t throw another pass the second half. I thought for him it was a very impressive night.
“As a team, I don’t think we’re so dominant running the ball that we can just line up and kill people. I think we have to be able to be balanced, and the more balanced we’re going to be, the more effective we’ll be. If we want to win these last four games and have a chance to make the playoffs, we’ve got to have good quarterback play or I don’t think we’ll have a chance. He’s a junior, and he’s still developing. I still think he can get much better, but I thought last week he played a real good game.”

Sterling Limo Defensive Player of the Week
Noah Hill, Central Bucks West –
The junior defensive tackle led the Bucks’ defense with 10 tackles in West’s 34-20 win over Council Rock South.
Coach Brian Hensel says:  “When you’re facing the triple option that CR South runs, you need to have a strong, solid presence up front, and Noah just did a super job. He probably had his best game of the season. He recorded 10 tackles, and that’s not easy for a defensive lineman to do because we ask them to hold their man and shed their block and get off. For him to have 10 tackles in a game is a super effort, and we named him our Defensive Player of the Game.”

Sterling Limo Special Teams Player of the Week
Oliver Boucher, Central Bucks East –
The senior placekicker connected on field goals of 37, 28 and 22 yards in the Patriots 15-13 win over William Tennent. His field goals proved to be the difference in the game.
Coach John Donnelly says:  “Ollie is a great athlete.  Very accomplished in track (state and national level) and an outstanding kicker the last three years for us.  He has a chance to break some records this year.  Kickers can win or lose a game for you, and Ollie was the difference last week kicking three field goals.  We have full confidence in him.  He has a great deal of range and ability as he handles kickoffs, punts, and extra points.  Our Special Teams Coach Tim Barno does a great job with all of the special teams.  He and Ollie work well together and the results have been truly positive.”
