CENTRAL BUCKS EAST BOYS’ BASKETBALL PREVIEW
Head Coach: Erik Henrysen, 5th year
Assistant coaches: Brian Yannarella, Jimmy Katasak, Jon McArdle, and Anthony Magallanes
Volunteer Assistant: Joe Laphen
Last year’s record: 12-11 overall; (9-5 SOL Continental); SOL Continental Co-Champions
Notable losses: Brendan McLaughlin (2ndTeam All-League, Co-Captain), Ben Kardane, Brendan O’Neil, Matt Gentry, Joe Laphen, Brandon Birkhead
Key returners: Tommy Strasburger (11/Guard, 2ndTeam All-League), Blake Peterson (11/Center, Honorable Mention All League)
Others to watch: Travis Ives (12/Guard), Justin O’Neil (11/Forward), Matt Pattyson (10/Guard), Sean Dann (10/Guard), Jeff Circuit (12/Center), Cooper Fink (10/Forward)
Strengths: Blake Peterson (Co-Captain) and Tommy Strasburger (Co-Captain) provide an inside-outside presence. Both are receiving interest from colleges. Strasburger is a do-it-all guard that can play any position. Peterson is on pace to break the school record for blocks as a junior.
Question Marks: The graduation of six seniors and loss of the leadership that Brendan McLaughlin provided leaves huge question marks. Who will lead by example? Will the underclassmen and inexperienced step up? Outside of Strasburger and Peterson, who will earn spots in the rotation?
Outlook: Question marks beyond Strasburger and Peterson are difficult to ignore. With that being said, Peterson’s length provides a defensive aspect not many teams have. Strasburger is one of the best overall players in the league and can impact a game in a variety of ways. If regular contributions from the inexperienced additions to the team can be counted on, then the outlook for the season is a good one. Inconsistent contributions would make it much more difficult.
Games to Watch: Two games at the Boardwalk Basketball Holiday Classic in Wildwood, NJ
