Brianna DeAngelis – Monmouth University (Field Hockey)
Major:
Criminal Justice with a minor in Spanish
Final list of colleges:  Monmouth, St. Joseph’s
Reasons for choosing Monmouth:  “I decided on Monmouth because of the school – it’s just beautiful. The coach and the players were just very welcoming when I first got there.”
What was the progression that led you to playing field hockey at the collegiate level?  “It was definitely through club because we go to college showcases, and going out to (the National) Festival my freshman year and having all the colleges and having all the commotion of playing non-stop was really exhilarating, and I knew right then I wanted to play in college.”
Coach Courtney Hughes says:  “Part of the transformation of this program – (Bri and Kim) have both have been four-year starters, they both have been a big part of what we’ve been doing here. Bri – just having an anchor in the backfield as a goalie, someone you can rely on year in and year out. Knowing she’s back there, knowing she’s tending the cage, it’s been very comforting having her in the back. She’s a great leader. She’s helped us build our defense to what it is. We’re very thankful we had the opportunity to have her for four years.”

Kim Hitchcock – James Madison University (Field Hockey)
Major:
Business/Marketing
Final list of colleges:  JMU, St. Joseph’s, Bucknell
Reasons for choosing JMU:  “Honestly, when I first went there, it was for a clinic, and I met the new coach – the coach was definitely a major factor in it. They had (another) coach, and when they switched to Christy Morgan, I knew her past experience with JMU. She led them to championships, and I knew right away she would have a great impact on me as a person and as a player. Of course, the beautiful campus, and it’s second in the country for food.”
What was the progression that led you to playing field hockey at the collegiate level?  “I have been playing hockey since second grade. It’s always been a major factor in my life. I started talking about college probably my sophomore year – I knew I wanted to pursue it further than high school. I knew I didn’t want to let the game go. My parents were always supportive of me. Whatever division I wanted to play, they didn’t care, but I knew I wanted a challenge. I know JMU can help me with that and help me grow as a player.”
Coach Courtney Hughes says:  “There’s so much you can say about Kim. She has been the girl that everyone has looked to on the field for the past four years. Ever since she’s had an opportunity to really make a difference on the field, she has. She’s been noticed by other coaches, and she’s someone other teams have to pay attention to. When our offense is rolling, it’s because Kim’s rolling, it’s because Kim is working and leading the way in her assists and her goals and whatever else she’s setting up.”
