BILL HORAN - Girls Tennis Coach 1973 – 1978
Coach Bill Horan took over a struggling tennis program in 1973 and developed a team that ruled the Bux-Mont League for six years. During his tenure, Bill’s teams won an incredible 59 matches and lost only 2. His only loses were to Souderton (1973) and Pennridge (1977). His squads captured six straight Bux-Mont Championships. Bill arrived at East when it first opened in 1969. He was a member of the English Department and served as department chairman for over a decade.
Bill’s teams included numerous league champions. In 1978, Beth Shetzley, won the singles title. His doubles teams won four league titles. They included Andrea Buckley and Pat Henry (1973), Kim Allison and Roberta Fuccella (1974), Jenny Wright and Jan Hingston (1975), and Jenny Wright and Linda Selby (1976). Bill always gave his players the credit they deserved. After capturing the Bux-Mont crown in 1974 he said, “We took all the marbles this time. It’s been a very rewarding season. In the beginning, we thought we’d be lucky to break even (5 – 5) but the girls really came through. They’re all in great shape and have a true sense of team spirit, even though this is an individual game.”
Unfortunately, Bill passed away on August 28 2014. He was an avid albeit frustrated golfer, superior tennis and pool player and avid Phillies fan, and outstanding coach. He was the beloved husband of Diane, and proud father of five sons, Thomas, Robert, Patrick, James and William Jr. He also had four grandchildren Liz, Josh, Amelia and Lily, and two great grandchildren. Those who worked with and played for Bill will remember his passion, witty sense of humor, strength and passion. His legacy at East lives on though his induction into the Hall of Fame.
CHUCK HEIBER - Class of 1983
Chuck Hieber was an outstanding triple threat for East in the early 1980s. He earned 8 varsity letters in football, wrestling and baseball. He won the Kingsbury Award as East’s Outstanding Male Athlete as a senior.
Chuck was football Captain in his senior year. He was named All Bux-Mont as both an offensive and defensive lineman. On the baseball team, Chuck served as Captain. He was the starting catcher in his junior and senior years.
On the wrestling mats, Chuck was a dominant heavyweight. He qualified for Districts in each of his seasons and won the District One Heavyweight crown in 1983. He was also a regional runner-up, and State qualifier. He won 65 matches, including 26 in his senior year. He was team Captain as a senior.
Chuck went on to wrestle and play football at Delaware Valley College. On the mats he continued to wrestle in the heavyweight class and was part of the MAC Championship team in 1986. On the gridiron he was a Captain and 4 year starter as a defensive end. He had over 100 tackles three years in a row and was All MAC 3times and All ECAC twice.
Chuck works as a salesman and estimator for Gaum Inc. in Robbinsville, NJ. He and his wife Nancy, daughters Gabby and Gretchen and son Ryan live in Pipersville, PA. . His children attend East and Tohickon and are also involved in field hockey and football.
MEREDITH ADGIE-WILLIAMS – Class of 1989
Meredith Adgie excelled in two sports for C. B. East. She earned six varsity letters in lacrosse and basketball. She served as Captain of the basketball team as a senior. She received the Scholar Athlete Award at East in 1989.
On the basketball court, Meredith was All-Suburban first team in her junior and senior years and honorable mention as a sophomore. Meredith was the second East basketball player to score 1000 points joining Hall of Fame member Meghan Pattyson in that elite group. In the postseason, she played in the All Star Labor Classic at the Palestra and was a Philadelphia Girls Shootout All Star. She played in the William Penn Classic, on the ALL Star North Team and earned the Chic D’Angelo MVP Trophy.
Meredith helped the East lacrosse team to much success in the spring. She started and earned a varsity letter in her three seasons on the squad.
After high school, Meredith went on to play four years at Rider University where she served as Co-Captain her senior year. She graduated in 1993 with a degree in Business Administration. After a short time in the corporate world she began coaching grade school basketball at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church in Sea Isle City, N.J. This experience sparked her interest in teaching and she earned a Post-Baccalaureate Degree in Education from Rowan University. She completed a Masters Degree in Special Education at Holy Family University. Since then, she has taught middle school special education in The Pennsbury School District for 14 years. She and her husband Greg Williams, also an East grad, reside in Newtown with their children Jillian, Calvin, Harrison and Ryder.
JEFF HEATH – Class of 1993
Jeff Heath ranks as one of the top runners in East’s storied track and cross country history. He earned 10 varsity letters during his East career. Jeff set the school record in the 800 meters and qualified for States five times.
In cross country, Jeff was a two-time States qualifier earning State medal in 1992. He finished 3rd in 1990 and 6th in 1992 at Districts. Jeff won the SOL Championships twice in 1990 and 1992. He was also named to the Colonial Division 1st team three times and was second team All Suburban as a freshman.
In winter track he qualified for the Meet of Champion twice. Jeff finished second in the 1000 yard race in 1993. He capped off his winter career by winning the State Championship in the 800 meter run in 1993.
In the spring season, Jeff qualified for States twice in the 800 meters. He ran to two State medals finishing 8th and 5th. He was named first team All Suburban in 1992 and 1993. His personal bests were 1:54.82 in the 800 meters and 4:23.8 in the 1600 meters.
After high school, Jeff accepted a partial track scholarship to St. Josephs University but suffered a career ending injury after his first season. He graduated with a degree in Business Administration from Gwynedd Mercy College and worked in pharmaceutical sales for 10 years. He returned to school and graduated cum laude with a Bachelors in Nursing from Thomas Jefferson University in 2010. He worked there for two years on inpatient medical surgical units. He has recently accepted a sales position in advanced wound care. He and his wife Beth Anne live in Doylestown with their son Sammy.
ROBIN ZIELINSKI CONRAD – Class of 1995
Winner of The Dr. James Gallagher Outstanding Athlete Award in 1995, Robin Zielinski, a 3 sport athlete, anchored the East softball team to their first District One title and a quarterfinals finish at the State Championships. Robin, the team’s shortstop, finished her softball career with a .451 batting average and 89 stolen bases over a four year span. She was named to the Intelligencer’s SOL AAA team 4 times including 1st team selections junior and senior years and 2nd team as a sophomore. Robin was also selected to the Inquirer’s All Area Softball Team in 1995.
In addition to softball, Robin starred for the basketball and field hockey teams. A 3 year varsity starter and senior Captain in field hockey, Robin was selected to the SOL 1st and 2nd teams in the left wing position. She contributed to East’s success on the hardwood in the winter. She helped the Patriots capture the SOL Colonial Division Crown as a junior. That Patriot squad made a deep run in the State Championships, finishing its season in Hershey.
After graduation, Robin went on to be a 4 year starter for the University of Delaware as a scholarship athlete. While there, Robin broke the record for games played 175 and moved to the top ten career hit list with 124 leading her team to a 2nd place finish In the American East Conference her Senior year. Proving her versatility, Robin switched from shortstop to 3rd base in her junior year. When not on the diamond, Robin served as peer mentor to younger athletes and was honored with an Outstanding Contributor Award by the U. of D. Student Services for Athletes Department.
After college, Robin continued her passion for softball, playing for various fast pitch softball teams including the Royal Ladies of Yardley, which took 3rd place in a national tournament. She earned a 1st team All-American selection for Women’s Majors ASA National Championships while playing for Allentown’s Patriot A’s. Currently, Robin works in sales and customer service, for Arkema Inc, a chemical co. in Bristol. Robin lives in Furlong, Pa. with her husband Harold and two sons, Ethan and Mason. She is excited that her sons will attend East in the future and be able to see their mom’s plaque in the Hall of Fame showcase.
JANIQUE CRAIG – Class of 2000
Janique Craig excelled in field hockey, basketball, and lacrosse. She served as Captain for each sport and earned 9 varsity letters. She won MVP honors in both hockey and lacrosse and was East’s Female Athlete of the Year in 2000.
Janique’s accomplishments in lacrosse were beyond compare. In 1997, she was second in scoring and SOL Honorable Mention. As a sophomore, she led the team in assists, was second in scoring, earned 2nd team SOL honors and was named to the All Intelligencer 1st team. In her junior season, Janique was All SOL 1st team, led the team in points with 55 goals and 30 assists, and was ranked as the #1 player in PA while making the All-State team. She capped off her career by leading her team to the District playoffs. She was named first team All-American, All-State, first team All-Inquirer and Intelligencer, first team All SOL, and was the #1 player in Pa. for the second straight year. She finished her lacrosse career as East’s all time leading scorer with 212 points and set an individual season record with 80 goals.
In the fall, Janique excelled on the hockey field. She helped the 1997 squad to a division championship by being 2nd in scoring. During the 1998 season, she led the team in points, helping the Patriots make it to Districts and a 13-4-2 record. Senior year saw Janique lead the team in points with 21 assists and 8 goals, earn team MVP honors and join the All SOL and Intelligencer first teams. The 1999 squad won the SOL Division title and made Districts ending with a 16-3-4 record. Janique was chosen to play in the Philadelphia All-Star Field Hockey Classic.
Janique also lettered twice in basketball. She played strong defense for the 1999 SOL Championship squad. In 2000, she served as Captain, received the 3-D award for Desire, Dedication and Determination and helped the team to another SOL Colonial Div. Championship and a run to the second round of States.
Janique received a lacrosse scholarship to Penn State. While there she was named All-Academic Big Ten, was a Dean’s List student and selected by the athletic faculty and the NCAA for postgraduate scholarships.
After college, she returned to Central Bucks and has coached the C. B. South girl’s lacrosse team for the 10 years. She also is a top-producing realtor for Keller-Williams in Doylestown. She was selected by Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick as one of Bucks County’s Top Forty under Forty, which recognizes business leadership and community service. In 2013, Janique married C.B. East grad Anthony Del Gaudio and lives in Plumstead Twp. with their three puppies.
