North Penn won the boys team title at this year’s District One Class AAA boys swimming competition, which finished Friday at Kirk Pool at LaSalle University.
The Knights scored 399 points for the victory.
Thanas Kountroubis won the 100-yard breaststroke in 56.17 for North Penn.
Mike Kern was second in the 500 freestyle (4:37.97) and Aidan Daly was third (4:42.58).
Liam Kelly took fifth in the 100 freestyle (46.80) and Corey Smith was fifth in the 100 backstroke (52.43) to round out the individual event state qualifiers for North Penn.
Brett Else, Shane Hennessey, Kern and Kountroubis were second in the 400 freestyle relay (3:10.32).
“Back to back wins; that’s what you train for all year long,”Kountroubis said. “It goes to show you that if you believe it before you start it, anything’s possible.”
Upper Dublin finished second in team scoring with 197.5 points.
Michael Jensen led the charge for Upper Dublin, winning the100 freestyle (44.53).
Teammate Wyatt Amdor was second in the 100 breast stroke(56.43).
Also for the Cardinals, Devon Polak, Scott Luttmann, Ogden Leyes and Jensen won the 400 freestyle relay (3:07.76).
Michael Thomas won the 100 backstroke in 47.66 forHatboro-Horsham. He also received the B.J. Howat Outstanding Swimmer award.
Connor Doyle was third in the 100 backstroke (50.54) for Pennsbury.
Also for Pennsbury, Collin Hanlon was fourth in the 500 freestyle (4:42.79)
The Falcons placed third in the 400 freestyle relay. Daniel Lawton, Nicholas Jeronis, Travis Venables and Doyle clocked in at 3:11.58.
Pennsbury was fifth in team scoring with 131 points.
“The 100 back was the event I did at states last year,”Doyle said. “Last year I did a 53.00 and now I did a 50.54 so it’s thrilling tome that I could drop that much time.
“I went from ninth in districts to third so I’m very, very happy with my improvement and I’m hoping I can get into the top eight at states. I think I have a shot and I can’t wait.
“This has been such an amazing season for Pennsbury. We had an undefeated season, we had a great team and a great coach. I’m sorry to see it ending.”
Andrew Zhugayevich took third in the 100 freestyle for Central Bucks East (46.36). Collin Villari, Zach Collester, Evan Villafranca and Zhugayevich also tied for fifth in the 400 freestyle relay with Perkiomen Valley (3:11.82).
Wissahickon’s Danny Knoll was fourth in the 100 freestyle(46.65) and Doug Boehme took fifth in the 500 freestyle (4:42.84).
Souderton’s Ryan Witoslawski finished third in the 100 breaststroke (58.40) and teammate Spencer Nice was fifth (59.87).
Matt O’Donnell of Council Rock South finished fourth in the100 breaststroke (58.98).
In Class AA, Springfield’s Tyler Chamberlin won the 100 breaststroke (59.52).
The Spartans also won the 400 freestyle relay. Jake Corcoran, Ben Van Meter, Chamberlin and Danny Giampietro finished in 3:20.04.
Springfield was second in team scoring with 318 points to Lower Moreland (333).
