Alex Kardos – East Stroudsburg University (Soccer)
Major: Sports Management with a minor in Communications
Final list of colleges: East Stroudsburg, Arcadia, Philadelphia University, West Chester
Reasons for choosing East Stroudsburg: “I liked the campus a lot. I think the coaches are great and it’s a good fit. I wanted to go to somewhat of a bigger school, so I chose East Stroudsburg. I thought the situation was perfect for me there. They started nine freshmen last year, and I thought I had the best opportunity to start and play significant minutes as a freshman.”
What was the progression that led you to playing collegiate soccer? “I’ve always known I wanted to play soccer in college. It’s been a thing since I was a little boy. I give credit definitely to my parents for making me such a big soccer lover.”
Coach Tom Stoddart says: “Alex had a great season both on the field and off the field for us. He really helped captain the ship, and any success, he was a vital cog in that success both with his playing ability and also his leadership ability.
“He’s an extremely passionate kid. You sit down and talk to him for two seconds, and you can tell. We call him the squeaky wheel - he’s going to let you know how he feels about things at any given time, and he was able to convey that in a positive message to his teammates both physically and verbally and getting us where we needed to be.”
