Sam Webb – University of Pennsylvania (Track/Cross Country)
Major:
Undecided
Final list of colleges:  Penn, Duke, Columbia, Notre Dame, Cornell
Reasons for choosing Penn:  “It was just a feeling - I knew. I liked the area, I really liked the coach a lot, and the guys on the team were great too.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in track and cross country at the collegiate level?  “I have had it in my head for a long time, but it wasn’t a reality until last summer when I started getting a bunch of calls. In track, they start recruiting much later than in other sports. This has been my goal and dream since my freshman year.”

Coach Tim Cass says:  “Sam is definitely the best two-miler in school history, so when it comes to distance runners, he ranks up there as one of the best Pennsbury has ever had. Then you add his college choice of Penn to the mix and his incredible achievements – basically, the sky is the limit for him.”

Alek Sauer – Columbia University  (Track)
Major:
Undecided
Final list of colleges:  Columbia, Penn, Princeton, Pitt
Reasons for choosing Columbia:  “Columbia was actually my final official visit. I had that bond with the guys on the team, and I really liked the program. It’s a good school as well.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in track at the collegiate level?  “I have run since second or third grade. My sophomore season was kind of my breakout season, and it was really my junior year at the state championship – between districts and states, I had a really strong performance. Running is such a big part of my life. It would be hard to give it up.”

Coach Tim Cass says:  “Alek is probably one of the best middle distance runners we have ever had at Pennsbury. Going to Columbia, he’s in the same boat as Sam, and the sky is the limit there too.”
About Alek:
Favorite food:  “Anything – I eat all the time.”
