Kornelius Klah – George Mason University (Track & Field)
Major: Undecided
Final list of colleges: George Mason, Kentucky, North Carolina A&T, Rhode Island, East Stroudsburg
Reasons for choosing George Mason: “Out of all the schools, it just felt like the right fit for me, and I felt the most comfortable. I opened up there the most with the team.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in track at the collegiate level? “I started thinking about it in districts my junior year because before that I didn’t think I was going to be able to compete at the college level, but then the hard work started kicking in, and I made it.”
Coach Tim Cass says: “My assistant coach Micah Wright is the sprinter/hurdler coach, and he’s done a phenomenal job with Korn. Korn’s work ethic is extremely essential in the success he’s achieved. He will only improve in college. I believe he has untapped potential still in him.”
Assistant coach Micah Wright says: “He has put in the hours that it takes to get to the next level. It was proven in the indoor season when he was all-state. He now has our school record (in the 110 hurdles), and he has a drive to be the best. I think that’s what sets him apart. He’s one of the strongest leaders on the team. He teaches in practice, and those are all the skills that can transition to the next level because he’s self motivated. You can have the talent, but if you don’t have the motivation, you’re going to be limited in terms of your accomplishments. I’m fully confident that moving forward from here he’s going to be successful in whatever he does just because of that intrinsic motivation, athletics aside.”
