“Both young ladies have a strong desire to do well and the work ethic necessary to be successful on the college level in both the classroom and on the track,” coach Jim Crawford Jr. said.
Stephanie Bresdola – Kutztown University (Track)
Major: Computer Science
Final list of colleges: Kutztown, Dickinson, Millersville
Reasons for choosing Kutztown: “It had the best education for my major.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in track at the collegiate level? “I decided to (compete in track) at the collegiate level after my junior year of spring track. I knew I could run in college because every day for a week after states I had a college letter on my desk in first period. At that point, I knew I could do it and would able to compete. If a coach I wanted to talk to did not contact me, I would send them an e-mail saying I was interested in their school and track program. The whole recruiting process started during the end of my junior year.”
Coach Jim Crawford Jr says: “Steph Bresadola should do well at Kutztown. In high school, Steph played soccer in the fall, but I believe that she will run cross country this fall at Kutztown. This additional distance work should really help her distance races in winter and spring track next spring.”
About Stephanie:
Favorite food: Chocolate Ice Cream
Favorite movie: The Great Gatsby
Favorite music: Alternative
Leiana Dean – East Stroudsburg University (Track)
Major: Undecided
Final list of colleges: East Stroudsburg, West Chester, Shippensburg
Reasons for choosing East Stroudsburg: “I selected ESU because I like the coaching staff. They seemed really dedicated to the track program, and overall, I felt welcome there.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in track at the collegiate level? “During my junior year, I decided to run winter track and was more focused and committed. During the spring, my 4x400 team placed third at states and I saw my times improving and I thought that I might be able to run in college.”
Coach Jim Crawford Jr. says: “Leiana Dean selected East Stroudsburg University, which should be a good fit for her. With the sprint times that she ran in high school, she should really help their track program, and continue to improve her own personal performances.”
