Bergey’s Inc. National Conference Highlighted Player
Katie Rafter, Senior Midfielder

Note from the coach:.
“This year, Katie is the captain and has been an excellent leader and role model,” coach Lisa Belz said. “She is playing center midfield and has definitely displayed that she can hold her own against some of the top players in our league.  Her work ethic and positive attitude are just two qualities that stand out in my mind.  She has great speed and sees the field very well so she can distribute the ball to her teammates.  I am extremely proud of the player Katie has become, and I am confident that she will go on to college and continue to be successful.”
About Katie:

“When I was a sophomore and we won the league.”
Part of game I enjoy most:  “Running back to the 50 with the ball in my hand after scoring and working hard together as a team.”

Bergey’s Inc. Continental Conference Highlighted Player
Katelyn Stout, Senior, Midfielder

Note from the coach:
“Katelyn is one of the strongest leaders both on and off the field that I have had the opportunity to coach,” coach Michelle Finegan said. “Her never-give-up attitude combined with her encouraging words to her teammates is consistently impressive. Katelyn has contributed on the field on both the corner offense and defense in addition to earning eight points for our team with three goals and two assists.”
About Katelyn:
Best memory playing high school hockey:
“My favorite high school hockey memory was being the first team to ever play on the new turf field at Patriots Stadium.  The energy from the fans and the players was electric.  I have never been so motivated and excited to play my season opener of field hockey.”
Part of game I enjoy most: “My teammates! I have come to realize through my years as an athlete that winning every game or losing every game might matter in a stat book, but the girls that surround you on the field are the ones that count.  Years after high school I won’t remember the number of games won or lost, I will remember the teammates that I came to know as my best friends.”
How did you get involved in hockey? “I never stopped moving as a kid, so my parents entered me into a community field hockey league to see if I could use some of my energy on the playing field.  I was drawn to the competition and strategy of the game and never stopped playing.”
My role model is: “My aunt.  I am constantly in awe of her positive outlook on life.  She is determined and dedicated but appreciates the moments and opportunities that she is given.”

Music on iPod: “Anything from Carrie Underwood to Chris Brown!”
Favorite food: Bananas
Favorite class:  “Sociology was one of the most interesting classes I have taken.  It is so amazing to see how society and cultural changes influence the people living in a certain area.”
Future plans: “I plan to find my true passion in college, whatever that might be, and make a successful career out of it.  Eventually, I plan to raise and live with a healthy family.”

Two people – dead or alive - I’d invite to a dinner party:   “I would invite Emma Watson and Sophia Bush.  Both women are so powerful and influential in their own ways.”

Bergey’s Inc. American Conference Highlighted Player
Katie Foy, Senior Goalie

Note from the coach:
“Kate is one of the quietest players on the team, but is very aggressive on the field and sets a positive example for her teammates through her dedication and work ethic,” coach Angie Yanocha said. “She's improved greatly since last season through her hard work playing at the club level in the off-season. She's being faced with numerous shots each game and has been doing a great job for her team and making saves that has allowed us to stay competitive in some games.  Kate is a great role model for the younger players on the team.”

About Kate:
Best memory playing field hockey:  “My best memory was my junior year when we played Upper Moreland, and our varsity goalie became sick and I had a chance to play. We were down 4-0, and we came back to score three goals in a matter of minutes. Unfortunately, we lost 5-3.”
Part of the game I enjoy the most:  “I enjoy the competitiveness and the challenge of stopping the ball from all different angles in the course of a game.”
How did you get involved in hockey?  “I became involved in field hockey in seventh grade and played in a fall league.”
My role models are:  “My parents because of their work ethic and the love and support they show me each day. My teachers and coaches who show me each day that through education and exercise you can achieve your goals in life.”
Music on iPod:  5 Seconds of Summer, One Direction, Taylor Swift and Shawn Mendes
Favorite food:  Broccoli and Cheddar Soup
Favorite class:  Chemistry
