Derek Cross – Kutztown University (Football)

Major:  Undecided

Final list of colleges:  Kutztown, IUP, East Stroudsburg, Lock Haven

Reasons for choosing Kutztown:  “They came here, and I liked the way the coach was talking. He just seemed very confident and seemed like a very nice guy.”

What was the progression that led you to playing football at the collegiate level?  “I knew when I was younger growing up that I wanted to play in college, but I finally realized my junior season when colleges really started reaching out towards me.”

Coach Jason Powel says:  “Derek’s work ethic - ever since I got here in June of 2014, his work ethic has been second to none. He’s in the weight room every day. Even when the coaches went home, he was always the last guy there. He’d go out on the football field by himself or with another guy – he was always constantly working on something. He grew into a mature adult in those two years. I think that’s what is going to propel him in college, and that’s the reason why he’s here today.”
