SOL SHSHL Player of the Week
This recognition is sponsored by Bergey’s Inc. Athletes are chosen based on nomination of coaches, and the recipient must be a positive presence on the ice and a credit to the game. Consideration also is given to the student-athlete’s standing in the school and community.
Justin Adams – Senior at Council Rock South High School
A five-year veteran of the program, Adams is a four-year varsity player and a two-year captain. He contributes at both ends of the ice, and in 13 games, Adams has seven goals and eight assists (15 points). His contributions go well beyond stats as he provides positive leadership and is a role model on and off the ice.
Note from the coach:
“He’s respected by all the kids,” coach Joe Houk said. “I call them character players – guys that don’t set the world on fire, but they’ll do anything you ask. They have 100 percent attendance at practices, they don’t miss a game, and just overall good leadership.
“Justin is a good kid not only inside the rink but outside the rink. He’s liked by all his teammates, he always has a kind word, he always says ‘hello.’ Justin is one of those kids you like to coach. He comes from a good family. All around he’s a great kid.
“On the ice, he’s a tremendous skater. I call it puck possession because once he gets it you can’t get it off of him. He’s a really strong skater. He’s more of a defensive guy than he’s an offensive guy. You look at his stats – he doesn’t put up a lot of stats. He leads by example. He does all the PPs, he does all the PKs. He’s basically one of my go-to guys.”
About Justin:
Best memory playing high school hockey: My goal that tied the game against CB East to go into overtime in the playoffs.
Part of the game I enjoy most: Genos.
How did you get involved in hockey? My dad signed me up for floor hockey.
