Becky Gerhart – Temple University (Field Hockey)
Major:
Speech, Language & Hearing Science
Final list of colleges: Temple, Lock Haven, Monmouth
Reasons for choosing Temple:  “Definitely the city and the environment is something that is different. I’ve never really been in the city a whole lot, but I just loved the atmosphere, and I love the Temple pride. Of course, the hockey program is an awesome program, and to be a part of that is exciting.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in field hockey at the collegiate level?  “Towards the end of my freshman year and the beginning of my sophomore year, I knew that I wanted to play. I wasn’t sure what division. Towards my junior year, I decided I really wanted to play Division One, and everything just kind of fell into place my junior year. It’s been a gradual process.”
Coach Diane Molinaro says:  “Becky was a first team all-league player, and both Becky and Emma were very well respected by the coaches in our league. She had 14 goals and 14 assists, and she led the team in the midfield and was participating in defense as well as our corner rush. She also was instrumental on the attack corners as the insert pass post player. One of Becky’s top assets is she’s a total athlete and incredibly fit. She will bring a lot of energy to the Temple program, and I believe she will do really well there.”

Emma McLaughlin – Villanova University (Field Hockey)
Major:
Undecided
Final list of colleges:  Villanova, Lafayette, Providence
Reasons for choosing Villanova:  “The academics combined with the athletic program that they have at Villanova I really liked. I love the campus. My brother also goes there, so I have been there before with him, and I really enjoyed the campus. All the coaches and players made me feel really welcome.”
What was the progression that led you to playing field hockey at the collegiate level?  “I played soccer when I was younger and throughout middle school, but I always went to Milford Hockey Camps at the middle school. Eighth grade year the high school coach asked if I wanted to come up and play on the freshman team, so I decided I would try it. I’ve loved it ever since.”
Coach Diane Molinaro says:  “Emma also was a huge contributor to our team. She scored 16 goals and had 12 assists and also was a first team all-league player. Emma was a force on the attack. She had a lot of other school’s defenses scared because she’s so quick at getting around them. I think Villanova is going to have a great time coaching her. She will certainly contribute quite a bit.”
