Abby Wick – Binghamton University (Soccer)
Major: Business
Final list of colleges: Binghamton, Holy Cross, Lehigh, Loyola
Reasons for choosing Binghamton: “Going into the whole process, it was a decision of what I wanted academically and athletically. I think that Binghamton made me feel like an athlete, but academically, it was so strong. I got a tour of the facilities, and the way they treat the athletes – it’s a feeling of being special, and I’m also getting a good education. It’s one of the top SUNYs in the New York area. (They) got a new coach this year, so I’m excited to meet him and see what that’s about.”
What was the progression that led you to competing in soccer at the collegiate level? “I think it’s always been something I’ve thought about since I was younger. You dream of going to the top soccer schools, and then you realize that it’s reality and you have to start choosing and picking what’s right for you socially, academically and athletically.”
Pennsbury coach Kaitlyn Battiste says: “Abby was a varsity player since her freshman year, and she’s the ultimate team player. She was able to see this team grow from a successful strong program into the championship team of the last two seasons. She was primarily in the middle of the field but did have some defensive responsibilities and was also able to contribute offensively for us as well. She was our anchor in the middle.
“Abby is one of the most unique people I’ve ever had the opportunity to coach. She’s a triplet, but I don’t know anyone who’s like her. She has the ability to get everyone cracking up in one instant but then can very serious and focused in the next. She’s a great kid and an excellent leader.”
