Two-time defending SOL doubles champion, Bryan Szayna, made it three in-a-row with new partner, Daniel Katz.
Upper Dublin's (#2 seed) junior Bryan Szayna, two-time defending doubles champion, partnered with sophomore Danny Katz and defeated seniors (#1 seed)Ben Wolfe & Nimay Godbole Wissahickon. The first set was the battle of the serves, neck in neck until Wolfe is broken and UD takes the first set 7-5.
The second set began with three breaks in serve, followed by Wolfe holding. Wissahickon took the lead and eventually won the set 6-4.
In the third set, Upper Dublin came out strong and Wissahickon continued to battle. With one break in the third set, UD won 6-4.
"Chemistry on the court is everything when it comes to doubles. Having confidence in your partner makes all the difference. There was never a pointin the match that Bryan and Danny weren’t having fun," Upper Dublin coach Lora Ball said.
The victory is huge for Upper Dublin after losing the conference title for the first time in three years to Wissahickon last month.
As for Szayna and Katz, they are looking to finish in the top four at the District 1 tournament to ensure a trip to the PIAA Class AAA championships.
