Sterling Limo Offensive Players of the Week
First Star: Reece Udinski, North Penn – The senior quarterback was the difference maker in North Penn’s 33-24 win over La Salle, a win that snapped the Knights’ string of six straight losses to the Explorers in their season opener. Udinski threw for 203 yards and four touchdowns, all to different receivers. He also ran for 39 yards in a contest that saw the Knights put up more than 400 yards of total offense against the highly regarded Explorers.
Coach Dick Beck says: “Not only is Reece a good team leader and game manager, he’s also explosive with his arm, and he makes the right decisions. When the play isn’t there, he’s able to scramble, and that’s really what he showed on Friday night. The difference in the game was his scrambling. Twice he scrambled and threw the ball for big plays. One got dropped that would have been an absolute touchdown and the other was for a 20-yard gain on a swing pass, which was a big play. Two other times he scrambled and ran for big yardage. He ran for 39 yards, but he had a 25-yarder called back for an illegal formation.
Second Star: Jagger Hartshorn, Pennridge - As debuts go, they don’t get much better than Jagger Hartshorn’s in the Rams’ 49-20 non-league win at Norristown. The senior quarterback had 11 carries for 209 yards and five touchdowns and also was 3-for-7 passing for 70 yards. He accomplished all of this in the first half. His five rushing touchdowns tied a school record.
Third Star: Joey Curotto, Souderton – The senior quarterback – rebounding from an injury that limited his offseason training - completed 5-of-5 passes for 204 yards and three touchdowns in Souderton’s 38-23 win over Plymouth Whitemarsh. He also carried the ball five times for 44 yards.
Sterling Limo Defensive Players of the Week
First star: Mike Garlick, Neshaminy – The Redskins’ outside linebacker had a career night on the defensive side of the football, finishing with eight solo tackles – one tackle for a loss. He also had three pass breakups and an interception in Neshaminy’s 28-20 win over Roman Catholic.
Coach Steve Wilmot says: “Mike is a high motor kid. He’s a kid that’s always going. He won the job in the offseason. It wasn’t a matter of when is Mike going to play, it was where is he going to play because of his offseason efforts. He’s a kid that’s going to be at the right place the right time just because he tries harder than everybody else. He’s our slot receiver on offense and our outside linebacker on defense, and he’s a high motor kid that gets around.”
Second star: Central Bucks East Defensive Line (Nate Ventresca, Ryan Plack, Mike Gresko and Mike Melchiorre) – The Patriots’ defensive line comprised of Ventresca, Plack, Gresko and Melchiorre spearheaded an overpowering defensive effort that saw the Patriots allow just 30 total yards of total offense in Central Bucks East’s 42-7 win over Cheltenham.
Sterling Limo Special Teams Players of the Week:
First star: Zach Bradshaw, Souderton – The senior kicker was a perfect 5-for-5 on extra points and also added a 23-yard field goal in Souderton’s 38-23 win over Plymouth Whitemarsh.
Coach Ed Gallagher says: “Zach Bradshaw has greatly improved as both a kicker and a punter this season. He was our punter last year, earning all-league recognition. He also started off this year with a 5-for-5 performance on extra points, then added a 23-yard field goal to his perfect placement total for the evening.”
Second Star: Dylan McDonald, Neshaminy - The senior placekicker was 4-for-4 on extra points and also had four kickoffs for 221 yards in Neshaminy’s 28-20 win over Roman Catholic.
SOL Honor Roll:
Casey Decker, Upper Moreland – The senior quarterback threw a 46-yard touchdown pass to Nick Pagano with 1:46 remaining in regulation to propel Upper Moreland to a 7-0 win over William Tennent.
Will Dogba, Neshaminy – The senior running back had 18 carries for 100 yards and also had three catches for 35 yards and two touchdowns in Neshaminy’s 28-20 win over Roman Catholic.
Justin Horn, Upper Dublin – The senior quarterback completed 6-of-7 passes for 134 yards and two touchdowns and also had TD runs of one, 18 and 59 yards, finishing the day with five touchdowns in his debut behind center in Upper Dublin’s 41-0 win over Methacton.
Mike Schoenleber, Wissahickon – The senior quarterback/linebacker completed four passes for 75 yards and two touchdowns and also rushed for 65 yards in Wissahickon’s 42-27 win over Martin Luther King. He also returned a fumble 40 yards for a touchdown in a win that snapped a nine-game losing streak for the Trojans.
Wes Verbit, Central Bucks East – The senior receiver caught nine passes for 137 yards and two touchdowns in Central Bucks East’s 42-7 win over Cheltenham.
Tyler Watson, Central Bucks South – The South senior had a big day on both sides of the football, rushing for 145 yards and also finishing with a team high six tackles in Central Bucks South’s 13-7 win over Abington.
