CENTRAL BUCKS SOUTH 3, PENNRIDGE 0
The Titans showed no ill effects from their shutout loss at the hands of Souderton 24 hours earlier, opening up a 2-0 halftime lead on their way to the win.
“It was like coaching on the surface of the sun, so I felt bad for the kids having to play in that heat,” South coach Pat Toner said. “The heat was brutal, and we were a night game.
“That being said, to bounce back and be tired from yesterday’s game and then to play with intensity, I was thrilled. They played two strong halves of hockey, and they controlled the game. Our defense played well, our midfield played well. There were so many great performances, but they played as a team.”
Casey Reilly led the Titans’ offensively with two goals and one assist. Megan Weeks added a single goal while Lauren Dougherty contributed an assist.
“Kasey Dietzel did an outstanding job controlling the midfield,” Toner said. “They’re understanding what we’re asking them to do, and they’re starting to put it together.
“That’s what we’re asking – that they get a little bit better every time they step out on the field. I’m very proud of them. I’m very proud of the effort they gave tonight.
“South always had a tremendous program and did hit a little bump in the road. They need to learn how to win again and maintain the lead when they get one. I’m thrilled with the progress we’re making.”
The Titans held a 10-4 advantage in shots.
“It was a tough loss,” Pennridge coach Becky Spahr said. “South did a great job finishing their opportunities in the circle.
“We struggled to take advantage of our own scoring chances and let playing down impact our game plan execution and effectiveness. We will reset from here and learn from the loss.”
South goalie Francine Richick was credited with four saves in the shutout, and Pennridge’s Mackenzie Bross recorded seven saves.
Central Bucks South (1-1-1, 1-1 SOL) will face Central Bucks West on Tuesday, and Pennridge (1-2, 0-1) will host Central Bucks East on Tuesday.

HATBORO-HORSHAM 2, UPPER MORELAND 0
The Hatters found their offensive stride in the second half of Thursday’s contest against the visiting Golden Bears. Gabby Acker put the Hatters on the scoreboard at the 26:15 mark, turning an assist from Brenna Reilley into a goal during corner play. Nine minutes later, Kaitlyn Wallace scored to put the Hatters on top 2-0.
“Today we were able to get the ball into our offensive zone more effectively with shots on goal,” coach Laura Swezey said. “In yesterday’s game (a 1-0 win over Springfield), we were moving the ball well through the middle of the field but were not able to penetrate the offensive zone as well.
“Today we moved the ball with more intensity and communication throughout the field. I’m very pleased with the progression of our team.”
The Hatters’ coach lauded the performance of several players.
“Our defense had a great day getting the ball out of the circle by Kait Wallace, Brenna Reilley, Victoria Mullen, Kait Shada and Kaitlin Gehlhaus.
“Gabby Acker worked the ball well throughout the midfield and into our offensive zone.”
Hatter goalie Liz Wilburn was credited with five saves in the shutout.
“Liz Wilburn had excellent saves with great clears to our backs for movement down to our offensive end,” Swezey said.
UM goalie Allison Felicetti recorded eight saves. The Hatters held a 5-4 edge in corners.
Hatboro-Horsham (2-1, 2-0 SOL) will be on the road at Pennsbury on Monday for a non-league contest. Upper Moreland (0-3, 0-2) will host Cheltenham on Tuesday.

CENTRAL BUCKS WEST 6, NORTH PENN 3
For the second time in as many days, the visiting Knights  - thanks to a goal by Mikayla Barrow just under two minutes into the game – took an early 1-0 lead.
Once again, it was short-lived.
Less than two minutes later Cadera Smith scored her first of four goals, sparking a 3-0 West tear in an eight-minute span that included another Smith goal as well as a goal by Dani Dundas. The goal by Dundas came during corner play off a Bryn Boylan shot and sent West into halftime with a 3-1 lead.
Twenty-five seconds into the second half, Taylor Mason found the cage to put the Bucks on top 4-1. A goal by Bri O’Donnell (Emily Crawford assist) interrupted the Bucks’ four-goal run, but Smith wasn’t finished yet, completing her hat trick at the 15:22 mark with a reverse stick goal from the top of the circle. Barrow’s second goal of the game two minutes later made it a 5-3 game, but Smith closed out a productive afternoon with a goal from the top of the circle at the 7:07 mark.
Although the Bucks won the game on the scoreboard, the Knights had the better of play statistically – holding an advantage in both shots (21-18) and corners (16-6).
West goalie Laura Kubit had a huge day, turning away 18 shots. North Penn goalies Brynne Schoppe (seven saves) and Anissa Gardizy (four saves) combined for 11 saves. Jenna Whitman also was credited with a defensive save for the Knights.
Coach Courtney Lepping – who noted that the temperature on the turf at the start of the game was nearly 140 degrees – lauded the standout efforts of defender Casey Reichwein
“Casey Reichwein saved at least two goals, one with a defensive save on the goal line,” the Bucks’ coach said.
Central Bucks West (3-0, 1-0 SOL) will play Central Bucks South on Tuesday, and North Penn will host Downingtown West in a non-league contest on Saturday at 11 a.m.
